This little cottage epitomises Anstruther. The kitchen leading out to the beach (privately) is perfect. Very comfortable all round. Hard bed, but no complaints. Get your coal and kindling before you arrive. 5 stars.

My family have stayed here a few times & have very much enjoyed its cosy, comfortable feel with sea views in a lovely location. However on this visit, it was difficult to see the sea views due to the state of the windows, very dirty as clearly not been cleaned in some time irrelevant of sea spray. We also had the following issues: Toilet not cleaned Wooden stove not cleaned out at all Oven filthy and clearly not been cleaned in some time Junk mail behind door Cobwebs in a lot of places Dishwasher broke towards end of stay Areas of carpet clearly not been hoovered Back door lock would not open so could not get in garden Despite all of the above, my family liked the location and communication with the owner was efficient and she accepted my comments and we negotiated a mutual resolution. However it was highlighted that the cleaner had not been in for 2 weeks since last guest left which is unacceptable and not a good service as dust accumulates, mail piles up etc. I do feel that more effort needs to be put into this cottage in the winter as you cannot appoint the blame for certain things on the location as that is the very reason people go and why there are no blinds on downstairs windows. Having stayed there before and at different times of the year, it very much appears that the owners need to do more regular trips to inspect that it is up to standard. I do agree with other reviews regarding storage in double bedroom and have mentioned this to owners in the past but for some reason they choose not to listen to a lot of reviewers which is confusing given it would clearly boost their reviews and possibly provide them with more customers. All in all, we would return but only by communicating with owner first to ensure it is up to standard and if the feeling is not mutual then we would find an alternative in the area, which is sad really as holiday letting is all about presentation, cleanliness, location, cost and Kingfisher is loosing its way due to poor management.

Enjoyed our stay there. View of the sea from the house was stunning. Overall score was not higher due to things already mentioned many times by other reviewers. Cannot understand why they have not been addressed by the owner. To repeat what has been said before: Why is there no blind/curtain on the bathroom window, which is directly opposite the pub? There is ample room to fit a wardrobe in. We knew this in advance, so as there was only of us we could hang our clothes on the bunk beds. Unfortunately, we did not think to take any clothes hangers, so had to lay our clothes on the bunk beds. No waste bins anywhere upstairs, so we had bits of rubbish on windowsills until we remembered to take them downstairs. TV was ridiculously small and did not have to be.

This is a lovely little cottage in a beautiful location. Do be aware that the street outside is narrow and parking is limited - it’s not that you can’t park but you do have to be prepared for a short walk. We had no problem with the steps in the house but they are steep. Being able to walk through the garden and straight onto the beach was wonderful - so many rock pools!

Location ideal with access to seafront from garden. Generally happy with facilities but disappointed with lack of wardrobe in bedrooms, glad there was only 2 of us so could use the spare room as dressing room
