One of three characterful, cosy apartments within the historic and listed Kinlochlaich House, which dates back to the 18th century, surrounded by wildflower gardens and woodland. Overlooking the gardens to the mountains of Morvern beyond and the famous Castle Stalker, the house is in a wonderfully sheltered spot and surrounded by a breathtaking range of scenery- mountains, coast, ancient woodland, moorland, meadows and lochs.
Creran Apartment is in the oldest part of the house, accessed by a stone spiral staircase. The spacious cosy living/dining room has a Charnwood wood burner. There are two cosy bedrooms, one with comfy kingsize bed and the other which sleeps two in bunk beds, ideal for families. There is also a well-equipped galley kitchen perfect for whipping up dinner from some of the amazing produce available locally.
The spectacular landscape and wildlife at Kinlochlaich make it perfect for nature lovers, photographers and artists all year round. Enjoy a drink in the garden watching the many species of bird - from goldcrests to eagles - that visit or live in the grounds. Deer can usually be seen, and in autumn heard, and you might be lucky to see Red Squirrels in the tops of our ancient oaks. On summer evenings, the gardens are bustling with bats, hedgehogs and owls. Otters, pine martens, seals, and dolphins are also found very close by. Next door is Kinlochlaich Gardens, with a rare octagonal walled garden, Bluebell Woodland Walk and nursery - truly a plant lovers paradise. There are wonderful walks immediately from Kinlochlaich and a Sustrans bike track just minutes away which runs the 48 miles from Oban to Fort William.
Why not wander down to experience the sunset looking across to Castle Stalker and the beautiful island of Lismore, once a centre of Celtic Christianity. There are fabulous restaurants, cafés and pubs nearby, serving good, local food, and the lovely village of Port Appin has a village shop 10 minutes away. Despite its tranquility, Kinlochlaich is conveniently located, lying between Fort William and Ben Nevis in the Lochaber area, known as the ’Outdoor Capital of the UK’, and the popular town of Oban, the ’Seafood Capital of Scotland’ and ’Gateway to the Isles’. The grandeur of Glencoe, with its stunning scenery, popular walks and climbs, is just on the doorstep. Sea ½ mile.
Creran Apartment can be booked with Corrie Apartment (UK7167) and Linnhe Apartment (UK7168) to accommodate 12 guests.
