Furnished to a very good standard, and with the owners living adjacent, this single-storey, semi-detached cottage has plenty of space for two people. With two living areas, plenty of outside space and a spacious utility room where you can kick off your muddy boots before sinking into the freestanding bath in the bathroom, there is not much more that you could want (apart from the hot tub outside!)
This is an ideal base from which to explore Dumfries and Galloway, and it is only 30 minutes to Carlisle, the border city to the Lake District, and 90 minutes to Edinburgh and Glasgow. A huge range of activities and events are available in Dumfries and Galloway to make your stay special, no matter what time of year you visit. There is a range of fascinating museums including the Aviation Museum, Burns House and Dumfries Museum & Camera Obscura. There are plenty of historic areas to visit, too, including Caerlaverock and Drumlanrig Castles, and Sweetheart Abbey. For activities when the sun is shining, try mountain biking and enjoy several of the 7Stanes trails which are described as mountain biking heaven. Or go on a hike to find some more of the prehistoric art carvings that have been discovered in the region. You can also enjoy horse riding, golf or loch fishing (5 minutes away).
Once you have built up an appetite, you can cook in the well-equipped kitchen at Kirkland Burn, then enjoy a glass of wine in your own garden followed by a dip in the hot tub - or you can take the night off and eat out at one of a range of award-winning restaurants and cafés which are within easy reach.
With stunning scenery, sweeping beaches and spectacular sunsets, this really is an area where you can relax, unwind and let your imagination run wild. JM Barrie created Peter Pan here - let’s see what you can conjure up! Beach 15 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1¾ mile.

Fantastic cottage and very welcoming hosts. Perfect for a get away for peace and quiet with the advantage of only being 3 miles from Dumfries with all its amenities. Hot tub was brilliant and views to die for from it too

We found the accommodation excellent much more than I expected. Even though you see photographs advertising the accommodation you never quite believe them. It was very clean and the hot tub was great to use after a day exploring the superb area of Dumfries and Galloway. We would definitely stay again. Keith and Jean were on hand if we needed them and were very friendly and gave us lots of options to visit places.

A very quiet little hamlet just outside of Dumfries. The cottage was set on a lovely plot adjoining the owners cottage. The owners (Keith and Jean) were both welcoming, polite and helpful. The cottage was clean, homely and well presented with all mod cons. The bonus was the hot tub and the view's out of it. We would even consider buying this property if it ever came up for sale, to live there. We hope to visit again in the future

We had a brilliant week. The Cottage is well equiped and comfortable, internet TV on rainy days and evenings are very much appreciated. We specifically enjoyed the view over the hills from the hot-tub. It is a great base for exploring the surrounding areas: we visited Caerloverock Castle, The Threaves Gardens, the Multiverse Garden in Crawick, Annan where we did a circular walk, up Colt Hill (one of the three hills with the arches), a day trip to Wigtown for a browse in the books, a lazy day at the cottage on a rainy day and we ended the week with a fabulous 7 course taster menu at the Auldgirth Inn, a newly opened restaurant (2 rosettes). I need another holiday we managed to do so much. Thank you.

An absolutely outstanding property with breath taking views. Although located in a little village, with very little noise the local shops are no more than 10 minute drive from the property. Waking up every morning to the sun rise was beautiful. The best place to retreat for a relaxing holiday away from the normal busy atmosphere of work. The hosts are second to none and were extremely helpful in giving us directions to local attractions and could not do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The property is outstanding and it obvious that the hosts take pride in there property! The house was immaculate and clean and I would recommend to all for a peaceful stay. Already rebooked for next year and are looking forward to another week in pure serenity.
