Just off the main street with a private secluded suntrap at the side of the cottage, this is the ideal location for a couple or small family who want to explore this splendid part of Scotland. Set in the centre of the highland village of Kirkmichael, on the southern edge of the Cairngorms National Park, you are in the Glen of Strathardle with the River Ardle running through the village. Trout fishing is available locally, free of charge and with no need for a licence.

From your doorstep there is an abundance of footpaths, a local pub serving food and a well-stocked local community shop. This is an all year round holiday location with both summer and winter activities; Glenshee, Scotland’s largest ski resort, just 15 miles away, Perthshire’s long distance walking trail, The Cateran Trail, passing through the village. For the more adventurous, there is hill walking on the stunning Cairngorm mountains, mountain biking, fishing, stalking on the local estates, horse riding, and golf at Blairgowrie, one of Scotland’s top golf courses or the beautiful hill course of Pitlochry. There are a variety of local events throughout the year such as The Strathardle Gathering every August (Highland Games), The Etape Caledonia Cycling Event in May, The Perthshire Open Studios and The Blairgowrie Book Festival in October, and various other local events. Blairgowrie and Pitlochry are only 12 miles away and the larger cities of Perth and Dundee are less than an hour’s drive. Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness can all be reached within one and a half to two hours.

A very comfortable cottage with excellent facilities for cooking and also a washing machine. A good location, but car journeys are required for the best countryside walking.

Lovely little cottage with very friendly owners. Set in a small village with good shop and hotel/pub which does excellent food. Cottage had everything you could need inc good WiFi (essential for a teenager and to use WhatsApp calls as mobile reception patchy). Bed was comfy and was ideal for family of 3. Village is remote so car is essential.

A thoroughly enjoyable holiday. The Cottage was spotlessly clean and exactly as described in the booking site. John & Isobel are a lovely hosts who went out of their way to make us welcome.
