Within a short drive is Oakwood Theme Park. A holiday in Pembrokeshire would not be complete without a visit to the picturesque harbour and the golden beaches at Tenby or the busy resort of Saundersfoot, a complete contrast from the more secluded parts perhaps, but always popular with children. Also within a short drive are Manor House Wildlife Park, Caldey Island, with its cistercian monastery and countless historic castles such as Carew, and Pembroke. It is an ideal location for a perfect family holiday as a getaway or for trying some of the outdoor pursuits and entertainment. Pembrokeshire is famous for its excellent restaurants and pubs. In the immediate vicinity there is the country park restaurant and two pubs serving food in the village of Clarbeston Road (3 miles). Golf and horse riding are within 5 miles.

We absolutely loved our holiday at Knap cottage! Beautiful rural location and a cute little cottage! The owners were really friendly. The only downside was that the central heating isn’t working, but electric heaters were provided and it gave us a reason to use the log fire. It is a very rural location so may not suit everyone, but we loved it and can’t wait to go back!

My family and I absolutely loved this cottage and although it was quaint, it suited us perfectly. The children liked the onsite play area and the local reservoir was great for dog walks. The staff on site were very helpful and we found the area very quiet and peaceful...it was a great retreat. Would highly recommend!

Very nice holiday cottage, very 'compact', but comfortable enough for us.
Shower / toilet room very, very small.
Radiators insitu, but not connected, the 'storage heaters' were the little electric gas filled radiators that did't throw out much heat (we went October half term, so quite cold). We lit the log burner every day, but again that didn't give out much heat as the logs supplied / bought from Gareth were rotten, so burnt away really quickly.
Gareth & Rosemary were welcoming and always around if required though.
First holiday cottage I have come across without any games/books in, there is a games room, by the children's play area, but if you wanted to play any of the games in there, there was an additional charge, and also no heating in there as it was just like a summer house.
Even though we didn't expect a 'welcome pack', there was only half a toilet roll, and 2 dishwasher tablets available.
Views and walks very good, and close to Tenby, and other activities for the children.
Even tough I sound negative about the cottage, it was nice, and we did have a nice time.
As soon as we arrived we were made to feel really welcome by Gareth who showed us round the cottage and the facilities and entertained our daughter. Throughout the week he was always knocking about and ready to help, answer questions, and make recommendations of things to do.
Unlike other pet friendly places we have stayed at before the cottage showed no signs (or smells) of dogs and was clean and tidy. The wood burner is a great feature and the cottage itself has everything that you could need. The pool is also a bonus and was used every day.
The cottages back onto Llys-y-fran reservoir which is a wonderful place to walk and there is a huge wide range if wildlife to spot. There are plenty of places to visit but you have to be prepared to drive for 15mins+ to get to most places, although there are small local shops closer.
Would recommend and look forward to visiting again!
We had a good holiday at Knap Cottage. Gareth is a great host and works very hard to ensure that his guests enjoy their time there. The cottage is a good base to get to all the Pembrokeshire coast and it’s not that far to Haverfordwest where there are plenty of supermarkets. Lys y Fran country park is right next door with a good path around its 6.5 mile edge. Good WiFi available on site at small cost. The swimming pool is also a very welcome facility. All in all this offers great value for money.
