This charming holiday home is situated between Salon-de-Provence, Arles and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. It is set in a quiet location but within walking distance of the city centre. La Retraite has a bright and comfortable interior and a terrace at the back of the house to enjoy the sun in all seasons. The large garden has a hot tub, perfect to spend a relaxing evening in after a day out exploring Provence. Bouches-du-Rhône is well worth a visit with its peaceful hill villages and beautiful coastal scenery and nearby there is Les Baux-de-Provence with its famous ’Carrieres des Lumieres’ for art lovers. A little further, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is a must and you can stroll among the stalls of its Provençal market or discover Van Gogh by following in his footsteps in this quiet village which is very popular today with celebrities. Just outside the village there is the ancient archaeological site of Glanum which has been excavated to reveal some outstanding architectural relics. The city of Arles, 21km away, is situated on the River Rhône and there you will find a Roman amphitheatre, art museums and religious monuments. The market town of Salon-de-Provence has open squares with fountains, medieval buildings, the 19th century Château de l’Emperi and the House of Nostradamus. Aix-en-Provence is perfect for a day out shopping where you will find popular shops, designer boutiques and second hand clothes and vintages shops, and afterwards enjoy a seat on the magnificent Cours Mirabeau, a 400m long, tree-lined boulevard. For music lovers, the International Festival of Lyric Arts, which takes place every summer, is not to be missed. Beach 40km. Shop 1½km and restaurant 1km.
