The lovely village of Sewerby is close by, with Sewerby Hall and Gardens being a very popular attraction for tourists, set in over 50 acres of grounds of an early Georgian mansion, with stunning scenery and within walking distance from the property. For the children there’s a zoo to visit, or plan a picnic within the stunning grounds.
From Sewerby you can catch a land train down into Bridlington, or take a leisurely walk along the clifftops. Bridlington is a very traditional seaside resort with a working fishing harbour. The beaches are excellent especially for the children with the donkeys and lots of wide open space. There’s plenty to see and do with an abundance of bars, pubs and restaurants plus don’t forget Bridlington Spa. International acts play here throughout the year, so for a special evening out, why not see what’s on?
Along the coast you will find Flamborough Head, Filey and Scarborough. All are very different, but all three worth a visit. Travel further north where you’ll find Whitby and the North Yorkshire Moors. Visit the Abbey in Whitby, where you have to climb the 199 steps up to it, or catch the steam train down through Goathland and on to Pickering.
Laburnum Cottage is a great base to see all of these places and much more. On your return from the days adventures, you have a lovely private garden to sit and enjoy a drink.
