Arnside is a perfect base from which to explore the surrounding areas of the South Lakes and Yorkshire Dales. Hop on the train to the next stop of Grange-over-sands, a charming Victorian seaside town with a range of shops and cafés, or you could stay on for a few more stops to the village of Cartmel, known as the ’foodie capital’ of the South Lakes and famous for its sticky toffee pudding. A 30-minute drive will take you into Windermere and Bowness, and over to the famous Ingleton Waterfalls in the Yorkshire Dales.
