We had a lovely time, we wanted a break to have some time for ourselves and our 10 month cavapoo, the cottage was immaculately clean, we had lots of lovely walks on our door step, the only thing was the garden is not suitable for small dogs, and could do with some work on it, but this did not stop us having a lovely break at the cottage

A very cosy and comfy cottage. Ideal location in a lovely village. Parking a bit of an issue but didn’t spoil the holiday.

We loved Laurel Cottage and appreciated the welcome gifts of biscuits, wine and dog treats left by the owner Wendy. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable and has a little enclosed garden to enjoy. There are beautiful walks along the nearby river which you can walk to from the house or drive down the steep hill if you have mobility issues (that's what we did; there are 3 spaces only at the bottom, but we always managed to get one). Also, great local pub, the Farmyard Inn, where we ate twice. They even have a dog menu, so you can order a sausage and donate £1 to an animal charity! It is in a great location for visiting Haddon Hall and Chatsworth, visiting Bakewell and cycling the Monsal Trail. We loved all the cycling trails in the area which are disused railways so all off road and fairly flat. We did sometimes struggle with parking as you can't park outside the cottage as a neighbour has his tractor and 4 by 4 taking up all the space! Most of the time you can find somewhere close by; we copied what the others did and parked by the phone box or village notice board. It was great for our little dog with the enclosed garden and tile floors downstairs, but it is open plan with no kitchen door (despite the agent telling us there was!) so if you need help to confine your dog downstairs at night you need to bring something to block the stairs with. Overall, we had a fabulous time and would thoroughly recommend the cottage.

Laurel Cottage was beautiful. With the wood burner and natural features it really did feel cosy and tranquil. There were so many lovely touches and quality accessories. We made use of the quaint garden area as a relaxing sun trap. It was very quiet and unspoilt with fabulous walks on your doorstep. A local store sold all you might need but essentials were provided in the cottage. We had a super delivery of Thai food on our second night which was most unexpected where we enjoyed the cottage to it's fullest. Wendy was extremely helpful and efficient. We will return.

We loved our stay at Laurel Cottage. It was pristine clean, tastefully decorated and had everything we needed. Appreciated the very kind welcome pack from the owners, relaxed and felt very 'at home' there for a few days. Ideally located for some great walks and easy access to other villages worth visiting. Would highly recommend.
