This is an ideal romantic hideaway for those looking for a truly unique experience. Take in the outstanding views in this rural environment, overlooking Hadrian’s Wall country. The Lavender Shepherd Hut is a craftsman made, bespoke, traditionally designed holiday home with every little detail meticulously planned. The interior is a mix of vintage style with some antique pieces and specially designed copper fittings. The whole experience has been thought out carefully to offer guests comfort, pleasure and a very memorable, unique experience. Admire the stars on an evening, open up the front doors and bring the outdoors in whilst relaxing with a nice drink. Once the doors are opened up, it really is like the countryside is just calling out to be explored. Although the hut does not have a Wi-Fi connection most mobile phone networks have a good 4G signal in the area should you wish to browse the internet.
The property is only a 10-minute walk from Hadrian’s Wall National Trail which stretches for 84 miles. It was used by the Roman soldiers for over three centuries. Steeped in history, you can walk from the door and should you need a drying space for your outdoor wear, the owner has this all sorted in the drying and bike store area in one of the owner’s outdoor barns. Walk to Sycamore Gap, voted tree of the year in 2016, and used in the ’Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves’ film. It’s also a beautiful photographic spot. For cyclists the hut is only a 5-minute cycle ride from Hadrian’s cycleway amongst open, unspoilt countryside. Whilst staying in the Lavender Shepherd Hut, you may see deer and the barn owl, particularly around dawn and dusk, with beautiful skies and an abundance of stars on a clear night. If you can tear yourself away for a little while the hut is only a 15-minute drive into the small, historic town of Corbridge, a pretty town with a few independent shops, and some lovely pubs and eateries. Hexham, with its lovely abbey, is only around 20 minutes away with all the facilities expected in a larger town.
Should you wish to explore, this location is superb for all directions. The beautiful beaches in Tynemouth are only 22 miles and the must see castle in Alnwick is only 36 miles. The friendly owners live nearby and are happy to provide breakfast packs by arrangement (at cost), but free the first morning for guests who stay seven nights. A great location to get away from everything, have some down time, relax and enjoy the experience of nature surrounding the Lavender Shepherd Hut. Keep it a secret because you will want to come back! Beach 22 miles. Shop 2¼ miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
