• About Lee Cottage

Cut off from the mainland twice a day by the incoming tide, the Holy Island of Lindisfarne allows visitors to experience complete tranquillity and timelessness, and these Grade II listed fishermen’s cottages are ideally placed to enjoy this unique location. The cottages offer contemporary comfort yet retain their original charm and character, and are within walking distance of the harbour and long sandy beaches. The island, a fine walking and bird watching destination, is dominated by 16th century Lindisfarne Castle, standing dramatically on a rocky outcrop – the ruins of Lindisfarne Priory, the 7th century seat of Christian learning, are close by. Across the causeway, Northumberland’s many delights; Bamburgh Castle, Seahouses for boat trips to the Farne Islands’ bird and seal colonies, and Alnwick Castle and Gardens, all of which are within easy driving distance. A lockable interconnecting door allows both cottages to be booked together. Local carry-out meals available. Shop 200 yards, pubs serving food 500 yards.

We had such a fun, relaxing and get-away from it all weekend. The cottage was a perfect cosy base for us 3 girls (mum, daughter and Missie, the dog). It’s in a perfect location with lovely walks, pubs and magical history in abundance. Thank you for the snowy landscapes and deserted streets. Would definitely recommend and would love to come back.

Cold and wet at times but the cottage was perfectly dryand comfortable. Well equipped and with good views from bedroom. Very pleased to have found it.

A gloomy fishermans cottage was to be expected but no effort had been made with the lighting to cheer it up. No flowers, no welcoming tray,no personal touches and lights didn't work in bedroom or landing switch. Two tin openers but neither worked. However the bed was very comfortable and the position of the cottage was perfect. The grass wasn't cut.

A lovely cottage which was a real home from home with everything provided apart from own towels. Only let down slightly by the put you up bed which was not really fit for purpose and the shared garden was at times a bit problematic with the dogs from both families. On the whole a lovely stay and would certainly consider a return.

In terms of equipment...there was only one tasty tea towel so I bought myself another. There were no oven gloves, no roasting tin but apart from that everything else was there. The carpets and kitchen floor are a bit tired as were the settee blankets. The bed was comfortable and the shower good. We have stayed in Lee and Haven and find them both very good for just the two of us plus dogs. There would be a problem with the garden if the neighbours also had dogs with them as it is a shared space.
