Enjoyed our stay in Charlestown and the cottage was comfortable. There were a few niggles with equipment, but nothing that spoiled things. The location was very peaceful being off the main road , but with no convenience stores in the village, it was a trip in the car for supplies. No shortage of good places to eat within 5 minutes of the cottage & the harbour is beautiful. However, if you like a quiet home, be aware. The four poster bed cracks and creaks, all the doors upstairs close with a squeak & the stairs are extremely creaky. Plus, as all the floors are wooden and the stairs are open plan in to the lounge, every little sound is amplified and carried throughout the cottage. From the lounge, you can hear someone brushing their teeth in the bathroom with the door closed. Depends what you are used to really. Would stay again if we got the chance.

We were really disappointed with this cottage, mainly with the cleanliness of it. The cutlery drawer was dirty and had food debris in it, the cupboards at the side of the cooker were coated in grease, the french doors between the lounge and kitchen were filthy, someone’s dog had obviously been sat on the bed in the spare room because the window was covered in smears, the area around the front and back of the toilet was dirty and there were hairs all over the staircase skirtings, cobwebs were hanging off the covings and had obviously been there for some time, I counted 6 spiders hanging from them and that was just in the lounge!! I know this is a dog friendly cottage and maybe people don’t expect much but I’ve stayed in some beautiful cottages with my dog and you could eat off the floor, I didn’t even want to eat off the dishes in this cottage. We had a problem with the smoke alarm going off of it’s own accord and they came out straight away to replace it, unfortunately it was the wrong one so we just put up with it bleeping. Lily cottage is in such a lovely area, and with a little TLC and a good clean it could be beautiful. Charlestown is great and well worth a visit, the tall ships are very impressive.

the cottage is fab but the settees are not comfortable and the double bed takes a lot of getting used to, the garden is great for the kids dog and just to set with a wine, the local pubs are great with dogs all in all I will not go back to this cottage but I will go back to this area

Beautiful cottage was very clean and comfortable, not suitable for disabled person, due to stairs, high sided bath and high 4 poster. Lovely quiet location with parking. Kitchen was a lovely size however could have been improved with more cooking dishes, etc, I enjoy cooking when on holiday as my time is restricted at home due to work commitments. Would be happy to stay again.

Lilly cottage is ideally situated, minutes from Charlestown harbour. Sarah the owner of lilly cottage is available to contact should you have any queries, a lovely friendly and approachable person but not intrusive. A welcome tray of tea and biscuits plus freash flowers was really appreciated after a long journey. Keep doing what your doing Sarah! 5 ?
