This is a really splendid holiday cottage. It is well equipped with all that families and couples need on holiday. The location is excellent for access to great beaches and a variety of interesting excursions. The cottage has lots of space to facilitate very comfortable living and a great enclosed garden. Lovely house, comfortable. There are dogs next door, which bark at times. Great bakery and shop in village, and places to eat.

I'm not normally one to give anything a 10* review, in fact more often than not I find flaws wherever I stay. With that in mind, I can't recommend Linsley House highly enough for anyone looking to stay in Gosforth or surrounds. The house itself is a 2 minute walk from the village store, which is by far the best village store I've come across. Vegan options, fresh veg, local ales and a very impressive gin selection make it a one-stop-shop for anything you need. Inside the house you'll find anything you could possibly need for a week stay. Unlike many places which have mismatched and missing kitchen items, this was fully stocked with every utensil we needed during our stay. The rooms were lovely, beds comfortable, and the suntrap which forms on the corner sofa nearest the window was a delight to sit in with a book and cup of tea. As an added bonus, the shower (in one of two bathrooms) had fantastic water pressure, ideal for after a chilly walk in the local area. The little extra items that Peter had left for our arrival (I won't ruin the surprise) were such a nice touch and made us feel right at home. We stayed with a 4 and 2 year old, and were surprised at how well it catered to them. Childrens' games, DVDs, duplo, lego, stairgates, plastic cups and plates, the lot. As I say, I really couldn't recommend Linsley House (and Peter) enough. We look forward to staying again in the future.

An excellent, comfortable base. Handy for the lakes and coast. Even Scotland is within reach. Everything you could ask for is at Linsley House and the hosts are friendly and helpful.
