Set back from the road in the popular village of Lakenheath, The Cobdens provide light and airy accommodation for guests looking for a quality base from which to explore the area. Architect-designed Cobden House has floor-to-ceiling windows that define one of the walls, and open plan living spaces designed to let the light flood through the property. Little Cobden also provides a light, airy and relaxing space to unwind in.
Both are a great place to return to after a busy day sightseeing. Close by, lie the market towns of Newmarket, with its famous races, and Bury St Edmunds with its National Trust priory and gardens. Making time to visit the university city of Cambridge is a must, where many walking and punting tours await, as well as museums (including The Fitzwilliam) and a variety of places where you can shop and eat. Norwich, with its magnificent Norman castle and numerous museums, and the Hanseatic quarter of old Kings Lynn make for further days out.
Closer still lies Ely with its cathedral, long described as the ‘Ship of the Fens’, and its stained glass museum. For a change of pace and some sea air, you can be in Hunstanton in just over an hour. Here you will find a small fun fair, the Sealife Centre, Norfolk Lavender and lots of traditional seaside shops and amusements, not to mention the beach, which when the tide is out, really does seem to go on forever. Those wishing to stay closer to home will be spoilt for choice too, since High Lodge Thetford Forest, with its many walking and cycling routes, and Go Ape are both nearby.
Lakenheath itself has so many places to eat that guests can literally walk to a different restaurant or café each night, and for those wishing to cook at home and enjoy the ambience of either property, both offer a well-equipped kitchen and a light and airy dining space. Alternatively, both have enclosed gardens that the owners have named, to relax and dine in. All of which make the Cobdens a great choice for your holiday. Shop, pub and restaurant 150 yards.
These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 8 guests.
