    This charming, pet friendly, detached, family farmhouse is situated on a private estate and working farm, and boasts stunning countryside views.

    Situated on the 6000-acre Lincluden Estate, these three detached properties are presented to the highest standards. They are located in remote settings on the edge of the moors with delightful woodland walks and hillside trails up into forests. It is an area hugely popular with walkers and cyclists of all abilities, and the Dalbeattie 7 Stanes cycling trail is also close by. There are many sandy beaches and forest trails to explore and many lovely gardens nearby as well for those seeking a slower pace of recreation.
    The surrounding area offers a tremendous range of activities for the visitor. Golf courses, sailing, horse riding, cycling and walking are all available close by, and there are tennis courts and swimming-pools in nearby Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas and Dumfries. Fishing is available by arrangement at Glen Kiln Loch with the first day free of charge (any days after are chargeable at £8 per adult and £4 per child/OAP). Many quaint villages await exploration including the coastal villages of the Isle of Whithorn, Port William (known as the Machars of Galloway and presented with the Pride of Galloway award) and the popular village of Portpatrick with stunning views over the North Channel to the Irish coast. A trip to Ireland from Stranraer also makes for a good day out. Dumfries, with shops, restaurants, museums and theatre, lies 10 miles away, while Castle Douglas, Scotland’s Food Town (8 miles), is a traditional market town with shops specialising in local produce. There are also many beautiful beaches for holidaymakers to enjoy. Shop 5 miles, pub 5½ miles.

    Remote but doesn’t feel isolated. Warm especially with open fire. Loads of space and in a lovely setting. Four-oven Aga is an added bonus. At least one huge bed. The sort of house where it doesn’t matter if it rains !

    Lovely clean cottage in peaceful location. Ideal if you want to get away from it all. Everything in the cottage (central heating, bedding, Arga, bathrooms etc...) is of a very high standard. Ideal for a large family or two small families. Plenty to do from the door step...the dog loved it.

    This was our second stay this year and we love the location, house and views so much, that we have decided to adopt the gorgeous spot as our second home (here’s wishing ?), but certainly this will now be an annual family break as the kids love it so much. ?

    Superb accommodation, immaculately clean and very orderly. Huge capacity and generally warm [too warm in the kitchen with a four oven Aga !!] though autumn evenings did require the lighting of a log fire, easily accomplished. We believe that some adjustment to the living room radiators may be required as with some first floor radiators. We would, without any doubt, book this house [definitely not a cottage !] again and, radiators apart, would much appreciate just one other important improvement : a much greater light source in the living room as reading books and newspapers is a bit of a strain on the eyesight. Oh, and chairs and settees which are less deep, back to front ! One of the very best holiday accommodations we have reserved with the added bonus of no wi-fi reception !!!
