The sheltered harbour at Balmaha is ideal for sailing and water sports with walking and hiking enthusiasts also well catered for. A little further afield there is Balloch Castle Country Park where you can take a gentle stroll through the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. Magnificent scenery opportunities for water sports scenic villages and castles are all within easy reach. Drymen 4 miles has a hotelrestaurant 18-hole golf course and shops. Loch Lomond Shores for designer shopping is within easy reach. Close by Stirling and Glasgow make for a good day out.     This was just what the doctor ordered. What a brilliant location and worth every penny. I loved it and cannot wait until i will go back again

    It is such a shame that Montrose House is let down by the overall lack of cleanliness. The first thing that hits you is the overwhelming smell of damp coming from the bathroom. We found crockery and utensils dirty and had to be washed before use. Inside of kitchen cupboards dirty and contents haphazard. Bedroom very dirty under and around bed. Skirting boards and paintwork very dirty. A very pleasant lounge but no sign of the listed DVD player. A lack of internet disappointing. Bathroom needs a complete upgrade. Altogether very disappointing.

    We stayed for a week in Montrose House at the end of August and had a lovely week in the beautiful area of Loch Lomond. The cottage is ideally situated in Balmaha which is a lovely little village right on the loch and whilst small, has everything you need - pub, shop, ice cream, coffee, walks, boat rides etc. The cottage itself was well equipped with a large kitchen and lounge room. Whilst the bedroom was small, there was plenty of storage space so didn't cause us a problem. A welcome / introduction manual would have been helpful to assist us when we first arrived in things like turning on the fire etc, but all in all we found Montrose House to be good value for money.

    We arrived to a terrible smell of damp throughout the house. The bathroom was dirty and had mould growing on the inside of the window which hadn’t been cleaned for a while judging from the cobwebs. The bedroom had mould on the walls and our pyjamas which we left on the bed were damp when we came to put them on in the evening. The kitchen is poorly equipped with a selection of crockery that looks like it came from a jumble sale! We complained to the owner and were informed that the smell of damp was because people didn’t open the bathroom window! We left the property after two days as the smell was overpowering. We have written to ask for a part return of our rental (attaching photos) but have yet to receive any response. We visited in August 2019.

    Dry good location. Very clean. Lacking kitchen utensils to make it easy for self catering. The owner has made a great effort to make it attractive and stylish.
