Low beams were an issue especially in the bathroom/shower. Coat hooks in the downstairs hall would be helpful.

Really well presented cottage located in a peaceful setting within the lowther country estate. Good location to explore some excellent walks around Ullswater.

The cottage was in a lovely location and very well presented. We did however have a problem with the parking. The parking area indicated in the cottage handbook had no parking cones along the full length. If we had parked in this indicated area we would have blocked a vehicle track. The cottage had nowhere to hang wet coats, a coat stand or hooks in the entrance hall would have been useful. Egg cups and a bottle opener would also have been handy. In spite of the previous comments, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the cottage to friends or stay there again ourselves.

Lovely location central for northern lakes, locally Lowther castle is on the doorstep in walking distance which is a nice walk with or without a dog. Well equipped with a designated raking space. Pub is a nice walking distance but open on an evening only and limited seating if you have your dog. Great place as a base in Cumbria or to enjoy Lowther or Penrith.

Lovely cottage on the edge of the Lake District that also has some great dog walks nearby.

Character location, close to Lowther Castle etc. Penrith has a good range of supermarkets if you're self catering. All the Eastern side of the Lakes is accessible.

An excellent place to stay. We booked as close to Askham for a family pilgrimage and due to wartime family connection, so didn't explore further than Askham fell on this occasion, hence the reduced amenities score. However I can testify that there is plenty to see and do in the area even if you're not into walking. The cottage itself is finished to the highest specification and is truly fully equipped. This in itself would have rendered it value for money, but the added surprise of the the basket of logs and the instructions for the log burner were a clincher. Then we found the kitchen.... Beautiful and a welcome bottle of Sauvignon blanc and a box of chocolates. When we finally bothered to check out the bedrooms we found fluffy towels, bathrobes and slippers on each of the beds! I fully admit to being a very picky guest but I truly could not find a single fault in this property and would heartily recommend it to anyone. Thank you so much to whoever set and maintains the standards here and thus facilitated a lovely weekend for us.
