My wife, myself and two dogs enjoyed our stay here. Very impressed with the standard of the cottage, well equipped, excellent TV and Sky package, fast broadband, welcome pack with milk and dog treats. Warm, once I'd realised that some of the thermostatically controlled heaters were not switched on.
Garden good for the dogs, although the wire mesh fence on the right hand side of the garden did allow them to interact with the friendly terrier in the neighbours garden. Friendly Great Dane and cat on the other side, behind a substantial fence.
Cottage is well located, with the bonus of easy access and off road parking right outside the front door, a luxury not enjoyed by properties closer to central Marazion. We found it an easy walk down to the sea front and St Michaels Mount, ( which is well worth a visit, take the boat when the tide is in ) avoiding expensive car parking fees. There is also an excellent coastal path in the opposite direction, again in easy walking distance of the cottage.
All off the major supermarkets are located a few miles away on the outskirts of Penzance.
Our visit was in October, when most of the beaches are open to dog walking. Visitors earlier in the season would need to research which beaches are open to dogs. Whole area is generally dog friendly, plenty of water bowls in evidence. We were a bit disappointed with Mousehole, large notices on privately owned harbour banning dogs ( and pretty well everything else ! ), it would have been nice to have explained in more friendly terms that this is a working fishing port, hence the legal requirement to exclude dogs.
Even in October, St Ives is a car drivers nightmare. We made the mistake of driving right into the centre, along the harbour side to the Island car park, very narrow crowded lanes with very sharp corners, best avoided. Taking the train from Penzance might be a better option.
We really enjoyed our week down here, so many places to see and visit. Trebah Gardens are dog friendly, as are the two NT gardens closest to Marazion. We plan to come again and further explore the area.
