It was our first holiday away with our 7 month old baby. Quite a drive from Shropshire but we split the journey both ways so it wasn’t too much for him. What a fabulous cottage to arrive at! Stunning views and location! We managed to pack a fair bit into our week, probably too much really as there’s plenty to do in Port Appin and we only had a few days spent in their entirety there. Must recommend Airds hotel for a drink outside if the weather is nice (although very pricey). Especially recommend the Pierhouse hotel for food and drink as we had 3 lovely afternoons there. In terms of facilities at the cottage, I really don’t understand the negative review of Gary and feel I need to put the record straight in that regard. There’s nothing wrong with the sofas, in fact they were so comfortable I fell asleep on them quite a few times! The kitchen is modern and well equipped with Alessi crockery and all the pots/pans and utensils we needed to cook with. In fact I prepared several reasonably complicated meals there as I love cooking and not once did I think “I wish they had...” Finally, the property isn’t overlooked whatsoever, not even by the adjoining smaller cottage as the screening put up gives both their privacy whilst allowing the amazing views and scenery to be enjoyed through the vast windows. The work going on to the rear of the property is so far away it never caused us any problems and every window has a built in blind if you knew where to look. Finally, I’d just like to thank Maryam and her husband for providing a fantastic property for us to holiday in. We’ll definitely be booking again.

A fabulous house in a beautiful setting. Spectacular uninterrupted views across to Shuna island and beyond. The house was very well equipped and very comfortable. Port Appin is a fantastic place from where to start exploring the highlands. We had a fantastic time there and can not wait to return!

A modern cottage in a beautiful location. Positives - cottage is very clean Beds were comfortable Beautiful, quiet location Very modern and minimalistic Lovely get away far from the madding crowd with stunning views. Negatives The 3 leather sofas in the lounge are worn out and very uncomfortable, the frame has indeed collapsed on one of the sofas and all 3 need replacing Wifi was incredibly slow for our weeks stay running at an average upload speed of 0.25mbps download was around 6 mbps which makes it v difficult to work if like me you are self employed and still need to do some work while away, or have to use the internet a lot/have children. ( not the fault of the owners I believe, but something that should be taken into account if you need good internet ) The kitchen could do with more mugs, as existing ones glaze are chipped or glaze has blown. The kitchen also lacks things such as a colander, and frying pans are old and in need of replacing. Neither of the bathrooms have a towel radiator so towels are always damp, even if the underfloor heating is left on. Bathrooms also don’t have soap holders on the walls so you constantly have to bend down to pick up soap and shampoo while showering, which isn’t good if you suffer with a bad back. The upstairs bathroom has no blind or curtain for the dorma window, which for women could be more of a problem, especially with building work going on to the front of the property that it overlooks. ( Sept 2019 ) All that said the cottage is lovely and we had a fantastic holiday, though if it had comfortable sofas, towel radiators, and the few other oversights corrected it would be so much better.

    Good cottage in good location.

A really super, well equipped and spacious comfortable cottage with the most perfect setting over looking the loch with the mountains behind. I could not imagine a more perfect place to relax and unwind - sitting and watching the ever changing scenery. So peaceful, no road noise, just the sound of the birds over the loch. Really well placed for exploring the Western Highlands and Isles but plenty of opportunity to leave the car at home and just head out on foot from the cottage.

Our 2nd visit to Lurach and it's no surprise we decided to return. Peaceful and good location to get to Oban, Glencoe, Fort William and beyond. Stunning views...perfect. The house itself is great, lots of space for our family so didn't feel on top of each other, incredibly well equipped and cleanliness is spot on! Would highly recommend.
