The Main Door is old and needs to get RID of the Old Yale Lock as if the door slams or you get back late with no key as you have left it in the Cottage how can you get in ? this is a problem that is easy to fix, a second key in the key safe would be great ( most pepole these day's have a normal door with five lever dead locks double locking) and are not use to the old yale lock. I would most steongly sugest that this is done ASAP OTHER THAN THAT IT IS AND WAS GREAT.

Excellent holiday in machin cottage. Perfectly located in the centre of Bellingham. Waterfalls walk only five mins away to start point. Heritage centre really good, food and service at carriages excellent. Could have stayed another week, was great!

Lovely cottage, welcome bottle of wine was a really nice touch. Good level of kitchen facilities, nice fire with extensive instructions as to how to light it. We used the top bedroom (double bed) only and it was very comfy and cosy. Good central heating too in case you wanted to go in winter. Fantastic location, with lots of independent local shops and a co-op immediately by the house (20 second walk max). Even though there is no allocated parking for the house we never had an issue parking opposite the house on the road. Pub next door does nice food. The house is really well situate as acting for a point of departure for exploring a lot of local attractions. We will definitely consider this house for future stays in the area.

Really lovely location. The village is very friendly, with lots of good pubs, tea rooms and shops, and it's a great base for visiting Kielder, Hadrian's wall and other Northumbrian delights. The owners are very nice and helpful.

We had a lovely time and felt very comfortable in Machin Cottage. The heating was easy to work out and we especially loved the open fire on the cold dark evenings. The kitchen was very clean and everything worked well but I think it would be a good idea to get rid of some of the dated broken pans and grotty baking sheets. The bedrooms were also very clean and well furnished but the bed was too hard for me (me and my husband slept in the twin room - more space than the double bed which we gave to our tall son). Also given that it's a lovely old cottage the floors are very uneven (can't be helped I know) but it meant that the bed was on an incline so I felt like I was either sleeping uphill or about to roll out on the floor. I'm not the best sleeper in unfamiliar beds so I am aware that it is hard to please me. The kids loved the smart tv (eye roll) and I enjoyed the complimentary wine - many thanks ;) We had a lovely holiday exploring Bellingham, Kielder, Lindisfarne Holy Island, Cragside NT and Beamish.

Fantastic cottage in a wonderful village, felt very homely, lot to see and do in the area, would highly recommend, no off road parking, but plenty of space to park in village square just across the road, a true gem
