Kingfisher is a beautifully presented, semi-detached holiday property at Maesydderwen, meaning oak field. Maesydderwen started life as a working farm and later became a country inn. Today, it is now a collection of delightful holiday cottages, beautifully situated within the living landscape of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The charming market town of Llandeilo, with chic shops and an array of good restaurants, cafés and pubs, is just under 4 miles away. This holiday cottage, which sleeps up to 10, has been renovated by the owners who live on-site, and boasts a wonderful hot tub. The thoughtfully presented holiday accommodation is ideal for families or a group of friends to enjoy this outstanding area. The spacious open plan living area is a great place for a sociable gathering. There is a large family master suite with its own feature bathroom with glass block wall and freestanding bath. This suite can sleep five people in total and the twin bed area is curtained off for privacy. In addition, there is an en-suite double bedroom, a further bedroom and separate shower room. The property has been awarded Bronze in the Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards for self catering accommodation of the year 2018/2019 (3 units or more).

There is an abundance of wildlife to see and enjoy from the grounds including woodpeckers, siskin, marsh tit, goldfinch, nuthatch and wild roe deer. Red kites are also often seen soaring overhead, and there is a feeding station just a 20-minute drive away. You can leave the car behind and enjoy wonderful walks directly from the cottage. If you can drag yourself away from Maesydderwen, there are the beautiful castles of Carreg Cennen and Dinefwr nearby, and the dammed lake of Llyn y Fan Fach at the western border of the Black Mountains. The National Botanic Garden of Wales, 11 miles, with its great glasshouse dome at its centre, is a year round attraction, and within the Brecon Beacons National Park there are masses of paths and trails for walkers, runners, cyclists, mountain bikers, horse riders and wildlife watchers. Adrenaline sports such as paragliding, canoeing, rafting and abseiling can also be organised within the national park. Fishing is available in the nearby Towy Valley. Come and explore this wonderful area and make Kingfisher your home for a short break or a longer stay. Beach 30 miles. Shop and pub 3 miles, restaurant 3¾ miles.

Kingfisher can be booked together with Kite Cottage (CC632040), Owl Cottage (CC632041), Robin Cottage (CC632042), Wren Cottage (CC632043) and The Lodge (CC632044) to accommodate up to 27 guests.

Can't recommend enough! Just got back from a girls weekend here. The property was well kept, had all the things we needed crockery/towels etc even had extra touches such a welcome hamper and games and DVD's. There was 8 of us and we had plenty of room, we even made use of the outside space and had a "sports day" the hot tub went down a treat and loved that we could all sit around the huge table and have meals together. Fantastic weekend away, thanks a lot!

Lovely holiday cottage for our large group. The open plan living area is great and the bedrooms are perfect for larger families. It’s slightly in the middle of nowhere but we were happy to drive out to find activities. Would recommend.

The cottage was comfortable and spacious. The kitchen utensils were spotless and the welcome hamper was amazing. The cottage is decorated to a high standard and whilst the owners have retained some original features the decor is inkeeping with the original style of the cottage.

We went to the kingfisher for a hen party of 8. The cottage is beautifully equipped and so clean!! The only thing we said was it was a shame outside was so small and dated compared to inside. During the smer it could benefit by some extras such as maybe horse riding or animal letting for kids. It's a shame it's so far out if the way and so far to the shop and restaurants etc. We will definitely be back and would recommend

An absolutely fabulous Easter bank holiday weekend with friends. The place was ideal and so family friendly. I really appreciated the phonecall in advance and the two travel cots and high chairs were very much appreciated. There is enough to transport with both families having three children each all under the age of 7! A warm welcome with a fantastic pack of all things Welsh which went down so well with everyone. The accommodation is finished to a high spec and we loved the fluffy towels of which there were plenty again with lots of children it was great. We enjoyed so many walks all around the cottage. The children really enjoyed the play area. This was worth every penny and we could not get over how much we had paid for such a delightful time. Thank you so much.

I stayed here with a group of 9 family members. It was very spacious and comfortable. The hosts were on site and were very helpful. There was wonderful welcome basket of treats that was a wonderful surprise. The accommodation was very comfortable and the hot tub was a real added bonus. The kids really enjoyed it! It's a great base for exploring the area. Highly recommended.
