    Comfort and Equipment

The cart house is fabulous accommodation and is well equipped. However there were a few things that let it down. It wasn’t very clean at all. The carpets and upholstery Needed cleaning and there were lots of cobwebs on high walls, behind blinds and dust on Many surfaces. The toilet seat to the downstairs toilet didn’t fit and was dangerous for a disabled elderly user. This was raised but not addressed. Maybe this was a one off and maybe the staff didn’t get time to prepare given the current situation with COVID. Don’t let this put you off going. The location is lovely and I’m sure the proprietors will learn from this.

Overall a lovely stay! The actual cottage is beautiful and finished to a really nice standard. The roll top bath and built in wardrobe in the main bedroom were lovely touches to what is already a really homely cottage. We felt the place could've done with a clean, and the noise from next door (the bakery) late at night along with people walking past meant it wasn't as quiet as we were hoping. I would definitely still recommend a stay here; the bakery goods upon our welcome were also very well received and a nice start to our break. Thank you!

    Excellent fantastic getaway

Lovely stay. Disappointed that the on site bakery and bistro were closed for two weeks without anyone telling us beforehand. Not really anyone to hand for check in and check out kind of had to wonder round a bit. Beautiful cottage, very clean and comfortable. Other towns and villages easily accessible in the car.

We stayed at the Cart House for a midweek break with our toddler. The quality of the accommodation was great and any niggles were swiftly sorted by the owners (nothing major we just ran out of gas!) Our little boy loved the animals that were around the cottage! The location was great for us as we have a car and didn’t need to stay local but it could be in issue without a car as there isn’t much in walking distance. Unfortunately we didn’t get chance to try the Granary next door. We would book the Cart House again when visiting the area.

The Cart House is a little Gem. If you want a quiet, cosy base for travelling the Yorkshire coast, this is the perfect place. The cottage has all the necessary equipment, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space and a super bath in the upstairs bedroom. There are plenty of leaflets in the lounge footstool and an information folder which details all the local attractions and places of interest. Right next door is The Granary, which is a lovely cafe and we enjoyed a couple of great meals there. Ulrome itself doesn't have a shop, pub or restaurant etc (other than The Granary), so be prepared to travel if you want to eat out elsewhere. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and Karen, the owner, is usually around if you need anything.

A comfortable stay at the Cart House, spacious cottage well located to explore the area. Lovely tea and cakes a the Bistro. Would benefit from more kitchen equipment and more attention to housekeeping. We still had a very enjoyable stay.

    out of 10

Taking all the above into consideration we still had an enjoyable stay. A car is needed for staying at this property as the village had no amenities.
