Antique furniture including a magnificent 18th-century oak chest and farmhouse oak table add to the wonderful eclectic and individual style, as do rustic ornaments and the farmhouse style kitchen, handmade by the owner himself. Outside, the private lawned garden and patio offers truly beautiful and unobstructed views across the surrounding fields and peaks. The cottage was clean, well equipped, quiet and we were able to have a very restful holiday. Whilst there is a pub nearby, which had recently changed hands, that provided a pleasant lunch shops were some distance away in Leek but we were aware of this when we booked and were therefore able to take this into account when planning the holiday. It would have helped if we had been aware that there was no mobile phone signal for some distance around the cottage although wi-fi was available.

Megs Cottage has to be up there with our very favourite places to stay! We and our little dachshund received a warm welcome from Andrea who advised us of lovely places to visit and places to eat and every comfort was catered for in this well equipped, cosy, charming and characterful cottage. There are beautiful views from every aspect and total peace and quiet and we slept so well in our super king-size beds with ensuite shower rooms. We enjoyed many lovely evening meals at nearby pubs/restaurants which were all a short drive from the cottage and can confidently recommend Mehek, The Jervis Arms, The Reform Inn and The Manifold Inn. We had a wonderful holiday and we would not hesitate to recommend Megs Cottage to anyone and hopefully, we will return one day. 5 well deserved stars from us! Thank you Andrea! ?

The cottage is beautifully furnished and full of character. It had everything we needed. The views are spectacular. It's a shame the village pub has now closed but plenty of nice places within a short drive. Just a note for owners of small dogs, although Megs Cottage is dog friendly the fencing is not secure for terrier sized dogs and you may need a means of blocking access to the wooden stairs. We enjoyed our stay very much despite unseasonably bad weather, Andrea was very welcoming and the cottage was cosy.

An immensely characterful cottage in an immensely characterful area belonging to an immensely characterful and helpful owner. One of the very best in my experience as a frequent user of holiday cottages

The best dog friendly cottage we have ever stayed at! Fabulous location - it’s just beautiful! Very comfortable and well appointed throughout. The enclosed garden was exactly what we were looking for because of having two dogs with us. Absolutely excellent for dogs. Everything you could possibly wish for in the kitchen is there, and there is plenty of space to prepare and serve food. Well furnished and comfortable throughout. Nicely decorated and arranged. Two lovely bedrooms with great quality bedding, both with en-suite, which was wonderful. A warm welcome and a great stay. Thank you so much. We hope to return.

Facilities not up to the standard we have come to expect. A good example of why home DIY is not always a good idea.
