Take a little step back in time with a retro feel and traditional Lakeland cottage features. This property has both, with added modern day comforts. Set just moments away from the pretty village of Coniston, you will soon be charmed by the character of Melbourne House. With private parking immediately outside, you enter into the original 1950’s colourful kitchen/dining room, with bright red worktops and matching handles. The owners have really gone back in time to give this an authentic feel. You and your family will really enjoy the meal times in this taste of nostalgia. The cottage has many original features, such as slate flooring, feature fireplace and a cosy wood burner. The comfy sofas continue the vibrant red theme, and the dining area overlooks the front garden and surrounding fells. There are three bedrooms which include a ground floor double bedroom, whilst upstairs there is a family room with kingsize bed and single bed. This room enjoys stunning views across the Coniston Fells. The third room is a twin bedroom, and each bedroom has individual features such as original stone flooring and fireplaces that add to the character and charm. A family shower room and ground floor cloakroom complete the layout.
Outside you really start to get a feel for the surrounding beauty as you sit in the garden to the rear amongst some of the finest scenery Lakeland has to offer. Yet just a few minutes’ walk away and you are in the popular village of Coniston, stooped with history and has numerous places to eat, drink and shop. The nearby Coniston Water has plenty of low level walks for exercising your four-legged friend, but if you fancy something more challenging, there is always Coniston Old Man which offers breathtaking views. For something more relaxing you can catch the Victorian Gondola for a superb cruise along the lake. Beach 17 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
