The cottage was filthy. The door into the place was quite disgusting , the threshold was awful. All the wall lights were hanging in cobwebs , the shower cubicle looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for ages. The bed was dirty, I had to take the mattress cover off and I found dirt, grass and other things. I had to take everything off to give it a good shake then remake the bed. The. crockery was dirty we washed the things we were to use the scalded the and put them into a cupboard on a clean tea towel so we knew they were clean. On first entering the cottage the floor was covered in bits so I requested a vacuum cleaner and was told it had been vacuumed, I still insisted but after it was brought to the cottage I used it. That was a mistake as it smelt awful. The chrome bars around the cooker were sticky with grease. The place was much cleaner when we left but I should not have had to clean the place to a reasonable level. Finally the settee was so uncomfortable we had to use a blanket to sit on to make it slightly more comfortable. Their 3star rating needs to be down graded. We are not overly fussy people but we do expect a reasonable level of cleanliness.

We stayed only one night out of the seven, the living room/kitchen diner was poorly arranged. Very short of cupboard space around the cooking area. The cutlery, and dishes, plates cups and glasses were on the other side of the room. In a dresser with wonky doors. As for the cooking pans, they were disgusting, with tide marks in every one. I could not bring myself to use them and took them over to the owners house to show her. She replaced them with another set which quite frankly were almost as bad. I took photos. My wife who has Alzheimer’s, and after seeing me upset, would not settle and wanted to go home, in which we did next morning.

On arrival there were dogs loose in the grounds which jumped up with muddy paws! The cottage was very "compact" and the furniture and contents generally in need of modernisation. The whole place was in need of a proper clean. Cobwebs everywhere, cutlery in need of washing before use, etc. The bed was far too hard for our liking. Road noise is an issue as the main road is busy and quite close. We booked for two nights, made or excuses and left after one. Not recommended.

I choose the cottage as it looked remote (ish) and I was trying to get away with my dogs on bonfire night. Unfortunately the neighbours had a big bonfire party with lots of fireworks so my mission failed. However, the cottage was very pleasantly located in the countryside with many walks on the doorstep. The bedding and towels were clean but the rest of the cottage wasn't very clean. I was a little dissapointed as it wasn't a cheap let and I would have thought it would be easy to clean. The rooms were small but perfect for me. The kitchen had everything you needed and the owner had kindly left some milk, tea coffee etc and a tube of biscuits!! A little ensuite led off the bedroom and the kitchen/dining/living area was open plan. I would have thought that if 2 tall people visited they might find it a little cramped but I thought it was great. The 2 settees were comfortable and I slept well on a nice bed. I didn't use the log burner but the owner had plenty of wood available which I was told I could help myself to. I should think that with the log burner going it would be a really sweet room, but to be honest the central heating was very good and I was lovely and warm. I visited lots of beaches in the area and as it was out of season I had some to myself which was idyllic. I would recommend this cottage to people who enjoy being out of the way and like things compact. I look forward to returning in the future and hope the cottage is spic and span next time.

The owner was charming, but we felt she would not welcome constructive criticism. The carpet was dirty and overall cleanliness was poor. The bedroom had a very strange smell and the bed and linen poor. The chairs and sofas were uncomfortable. We nearly left early. Sorry but we did not want to criticise but we did find overall it was very poor although price reflected this. We looked st the covered swimming but it looked very dirty.
