Whichever direction you travel you will be astounded by the magnificent views. Excellent walking and Coast to Coast cycle route runs through Alston and there is fishing nearby.     Our week at the Milking Parlour was extremely pleasant and relaxing. Set in lovely countryside with Alston in easy walking distance. It was slightly smaller than expected, but no problem for 2 and a dog. The owners were very pleasant and helpful, but didn't pester you at all. If we returned to the area then we would stay there again.

    Great little cottage in an ideal location for touring round Cumbria.Excellent place to unwind and relax.Plenty of good restaurants and cafes to choose from in nearby Alston.All in all a grand place to spend a few days.

    We had a wonderful stay at the milking parlour, a real cosy little cottage that provided everything we could ask for and more. Tammy, our Jack Russell made herself right at home instantly. The views from the patio were lovely. Would highly recommend for any couple wanting a relaxing week away from home. Sheila was a very pleasant and friendly host. Would definitely go back again.

    Milking Parlour is a good base for exploring the North Pennines. Alston is in walking distance or a short drive away. The range of shops is somewhat restricted but the co-op has enough for basic needs.
