This was our second family holiday at Monkwood and we enjoyed our return visit just as much as our first. The house is ideal for a big gathering, especially at meal times round the enormous dining table. We had a log fire burning in the large room upstairs and played board games and read books, several of us also very much enjoyed playing the grand piano. The pool is superb and was very well used by our party of 11. There are lovely walks round the grounds and we also made good use of the tennis court. Parking is ample and close enough to make loading and unloading luggage and supplies from cars very easy.

We spent three days over new year at Monkwood House, with a full group of 14. The house was the perfect space for us to come together and enjoy the festivities and facilities that the house had to offer. Above all, the pool and sauna area were the highlight with good facilities and a perfect setup to enjoy as a group. The other "snug" rooms were a good size and well laid out on one level with the kitchen to keep the group in close proximity. The formal dining and sitting room comfortably allowed us all to eat and sit together as well. Bedrooms and bathrooms all great and well appointed too. From experience, the kitchen area is on the smaller side for a house accommodating this number but with a bit of planning and the use of the hotplates we managed fine. Above all, the owners were fantastic and very helpful during check-in and throughout if we needed to contact them. Would highly recommend for a group gathering in a beautiful country house setting.
