The picturesque village of Godshill is just ½ a mile away with some of the oldest architecture on the island. With a medieval church thatched cottages and traditional tea rooms it is well worth a visit. The popular seaside resort of Shanklin is approximately 15 minutes’ away with fantastic parks gardens and a glorious sandy beach. There are plenty of countryside trails right from the doorstep and close by you will find a plethora of amenities for all the family to enjoy. Bikes can be stored in the farm outbuildings own locks are adviseable. Beach 4½ miles.     We had a wonderful week at The Squeak. The cottage was clean, modern, comfortable and set in beautiful countryside just outside Godshill. The village is about 20 minutes walk either by the main drive or via the footpath which is only a few yards from the back door. The place is very quiet, although while we were there the fields were being worked on - so some tractor noise. But in the evenings all you could hear was birdsong and the wind in the trees. It was so tranquil. If you go out and want to leave the car behind there is a bus stop at the end of the main drive, Shanklin is about 10 minutes ride away (price £2.50 single). For food shopping Newport is 10 minutes drive with several supermarkets, the most convenient being Asda (also cheap petrol). If you want to eat out we would definitely recommend the Griffin Inn - good, well cooked food and they do a range of gluten free desserts which for us was a godsend. Also doing gluten free food was the Old World tearooms which did a wonderful cream tea. Dogs are welcome at The Squeak with walks straight out of the door and so many public footpaths around. There is also the coastal path round the island. Our dog loved every day of her holiday. We had a lovely time and would go back again.

    We loved the cottage which was really comfortable and beautifully decorated. We hated the shower in the bathroom. It was really very small and had no shelf for shampoo and you could not put it on the floor as there was no room to bend down.The layout was terrible.
