Great cottage, fabulous features. Some dogs and people may struggle with stairs, really do need to watch what your doing when using them. Fabulous location short of nothing.

Cute and quirky cottage right in the centre of the old town and moments away from the Turner Contemporary gallery. Dog friendly and well equipped. Steep stairs may be tricky for some. Great find.

A beautiful property close to the best bits of Margate. (Don’t let that put you off) there are lots of poor reviews but we found the old town amazing and plenty of quirky independent shops, bars, cafes and restaurants to enjoy. Everyone was really friendly too. We had a great week.

Holiday let is in Margate old town, very easy to reach beach, bars and restaurants. Margate front and parks are all walking distance (normal health). Cottage parking is difficult, pot luck to get outside, but there are spaces down the road too, all subject to some restrictions, so just as well there were no wardens while we were there. It would be a nightmare if they had been on duty. (Note Margate main sands is not dog friendly May-Sept incl but Fulsom point the next beach along behind the Turner gallery is dog friendly all year round). Beaches are few 100 yds for main beach and about an extra 5-10 mins for the dog friendly beach. Just right for walking. Morrisons and Iceland are <5 mins walk. The beaches going towards Broadstairs are sandy, in the other direction shingle. Margate itself is filthy, not the residents fault, the local council really don’t have their seagull problem managed effectively! Lots of bird poo and they rifle through and tear up rubbish bags. Quite a lot of human/tourist rubbish left on beach too. My cleanliness score is for the cottage not the town. This is a shame, we didn’t see rubbish anywhere else in the area like this. Lots to do if you drive or get the circular local bus that goes to Broadstairs and Ramsgate. Further away, we enjoyed Whitstable and Dover for the cliff walk and castle. Canterbury was nice town, cathedral access was expensive. The forest in Blean about 20 miles away provided an alternate day out away from the coast. New Cross cottage itself is nice and tidy, it has everything you need. The bath is amazing. The smoke alarms go off when you use the grill, so you need to take care. The stairs are interesting, not good for people with big feet, and certainly not suitable for anyone with mobility and to be fair Probably vertigo/fear of heights. They are like going up a narrow castle tower, but polished wood. If you are fine with that, then don’t let the stairs put you off. We have two hounds and the stairs prevented us feeding them in the kitchen, they could only go on the ground level. The stairs were not dog friendly. This seem to bother the hounds, but I prefer them eating in a different room to where we sit. I think it is a bit on the expensive side compared to other holiday let’s that we have had.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the location was perfect for our stay, right in the middle of Old-Town Margate and an easy 10 minute walk to the Winter Gardens where we had tickets for a show. The decor was quirky and well thought out and the bath was just wonderful. The bed was a bit soft for our liking and the stairs lethal if you're not good on your pins, but we had a lovely stay, we would definitely use again.

Fab cottage. Tasteful, eclectic with lots and charm. Ideally located in the old town. Parked in the road overnight and relocated to free car park close to the old lido during the day (except Sunday). Cottage thoughtfully organised and rear courtyard ideal for sitting out and for our 2 dogs. Stairs not ideal for young children the elderly or the infirmed. Margate on the way up and well worth a visit.
