The adorably named Nutmeg Cottage can be found tucked away in the popular Peak District village of Tideswell. A stone-built, traditional cottage with a wood burner, it is warm, cosy and makes a perfect base from which to discover all that the Peak District National Park has to offer. Nestled between the rugged Dark Peaks of the north, and gentle rolling dales of the south, Tideswell itself benefits from plenty of local amenities including shops, food serving pubs, cafés and annual events including a food festival, wakes week, arts festival and even its very own Last Night Of The Proms. Probably best known for the large and impressive St John the Baptist Church, or the ‘Cathedral of the Peak’, Tideswell is surrounded by stunning scenery and glorious countryside and a number of other Peak District towns and villages within easy reach, including Litton (5 minutes’ drive), Eyam (10 minutes’ drive), and Castleton, Bakewell and Buxton (all 20 minutes’ drive). The magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall can also be reached in around 20 minutes; Matlock and Ashbourne in about 40 minutes; and for those thrill seekers, Alton Towers in under an hour. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

We didn’t want to leave!! The attention to detail was remarkable and we felt so welcomed by the owners who had left the best pack of provisions we’ve ever seen. The cottage itself is beautiful, tastefully decorated and in a fantastic location. The village is wonderful and has a bakery, Co-Op, a couple of pubs and cafes and the ‘Cathedral of the Peak’ which is a grand, imposing church. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

Wow, what a brilliant holiday cottage. Everything we needed and more was provided. The cottage was spotlessly clean and considering dogs are welcome, including ours, it smelled super fresh. Usually in self catering accommodation you have to take your own soaps, shampoos etc and washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs, washer tabs etc but these were all provided, even down to tinfoil and plastic boxes. The provisions provided were absolutely superb, fresh baked bread, butter, jams, biscuits, tea, coffees, milk, juice etc also wine and beer!! Excellent. The village of Tideswell is lovely, very pretty and friendly and if you don't want to go on a long hike then a walk around the village is perfect which we did every night to give our furface a walk before bed. We will definitely be returning.

The cottage was lovely, the attention to detail is excellent, and the welcome pack is a very nice touch. The location is great for surrounding attractions and the walks are lovely too. Friendly people and the pubs are definitely worth a visit. My dog (Daisy) was made to feel welcome we’re ever I took her.

Nutmeg cottage was perfect for our family of four including two children age 4 and 7. The cottage was beautifully decorated, very clean, included a really good welcome pack and was well provisioned with thoughtful extras that you don't always get with many cottages but make a difference. Tideswell is a really good location for exploring the Peak District and includes shops, pubs, chip shops and play area. In summary an excellent cottage.

The excellent welcome pack got the holiday off to a great start!!! The cottage is very comfortable and we wanted for nothing during our stay. The lack of a parking space was no problem as there are always spaces around the village green. Lindsey could not have been more helpful. Highly recommended!!!
