Oakbank Cottage is tucked away, set back from the little road that winds through the Duddon Valley, an unspoilt jewel within the Lake District National Park. Surrounded by dramatically beautiful mountain scenery, this semi-detached but private cottage is stylish and spacious. It has a large, well-equipped kitchen/dining room with glass doors that open onto the patio in the enclosed garden, where you can sit and listen to the rushing stream nearby. There is a large, oak-beamed sitting room; a great place to relax in, with a wood burner, Sky TV, comfy sofas, books and games. Also downstairs is a single bedroom next to a shower-room and toilet – ideal for older members of the family.
The Duddon Valley is a jewel in the crown of Cumbria, situated between Coniston and Eskdale. It is remote, unspoilt and perhaps the most idyllic corner of the Lakes, yet within easy reach of wonderful things to see and do for all the family, from the little Eskdale steam railway to the Muncaster Castle Owl Sanctuary. Or take a scenic drive to Coniston Water, Wastwater, or Beatrix Potter’s Hilltop Farm. There are stunning walks from the cottage, including a delightful 10-minute stroll from the cottage to the little Post Office and Stores at Ulpha. You’ll find an abundance of wildlife including peregrines, woodpeckers, warblers, red squirrels and deer. The Duddon River, with its ancient stone bridges and grassy banks, inspired Wordsworth and is one of the Lake District’s less crowded gems. The attractive little town of Broughton-in-Furness is only 10 minutes away, where you can stock up on local produce at some terrific food shops. Tesco delivers to the cottage too. Beach 11½ miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.
