It is a part of the Country we have not visited much before. The accommodation and parking was good, and local shopping was perfectly adequate. There were good nearby cafes but we found that we had quite a lot of travelling to do to really appreciate the area. Drumlanrigg Castle is a "gem" with good walks and a good cafe.

This trip wasn't really for a holiday but it did serve our purpose so in that sense the location was good. On the downside there wasn't really a garden to sit outside in the summer, but parking was very convenient . In terms of the village. Some good shops, cafes and bars in easy walking distance. Inside the property was spotless and well equipped. The highlight for us was customer care. The owner was very interested in our comfort and went to great lengths to help us make our stay an enjoyable one. He kindly arranged a nice setup for us to enjoy a BBQ with some friends one evening and was informative with local places to eat and drink. We'd definitely recommend you anyone planning to stay in the area. If you are looking for a hidden corner with some surprising scenery, avoiding the usual west coast tourist spots it's an ideal base .
