Lovely comfortable house next to the river in the lovely village of Rothbury, very central and easy to get too all the amenities. The house has nice large rooms and the furniture is comfortable, it is well equipped but there wasn't any hand wash in any of the toilets which would have been useful. Garden is large but needs a good fettle out as it very over grown and there's only a small area to sit in, the gardener in me was itching to sort it out but it was lovely and quiet having breakfast out there in the morning especially as the weather was so good, would definitely recommend booking this house

A lovely period house which could perhaps benefit from a little TLC. The garden is quite over grown and could do with a tidy up so that it could be used. Some of the pots, pans and utensils needed to be cleaned before use. Pine Tree House is in a stunning location and the village of Rothbury has a wide range of amenities. There are plenty of walks and you are close to the coast, Kielder Water and several National Trust properties.

We loved Pine Tree House. There were four of us - two couples plus Ziggy the Border Terrier. It's location is perfect as everything in Rothbury is within easy walking distance. I would say that it was was I would call "top clean" in other words - clean on the surface but when you looked a little closer, it was a bit more grubby. Things like the bathroom and kitchen floors had an accumulation of dust and detritus in the corners , and bathroom fittings did not appear to have been cleaned properly. Other than than - it was a nice touch to leave us a loaf of bread and some milk and a bottle of Mead. The 4 poster bed was comfy enough but the two singles aren't really suitable for adults. Our main problem was the fact that the river was swollen and at the point of flooding so we had to move our cars into the village but it did add to the excitement! We would definitely book this again.

Perfect cottage right in the middle of Rothbury within easy walking distance of everything and a great place to start some walks. The house itself is lovely. Great facilities and a lovely place to spend time. The view out on to the river is beautiful!

We absolutely loved Pine Tree House. It was warm, clean, comfortable, in a wonderful spot to watch the ducks and the swans on the river. Walks from the door, Cragside on the doorstep and some lovely places to eat. Pay a visit to the Narrow Nick, a micro pub on the High Street. A warm welcome and dog friendly. We will be back.

Lovely large house suitable for 4 people, one double bedroom, one twin bedroom, single beds may not be suitable if you are very tall as they have head & footboards. The double has a four poster frame but no curtains as pictured in the advert. Ensuite in double room with shower/toilet/sink (noisy dirty extractor fan), and large bathroom with toilet/ sink/ good shower and bath, opposite the twin room, toilet and sink off utility room downstairs. Don't think the upstairs is suitable if you have toddlers unless there is a stair gate that can be put across the steep stair case. The kitchen and utility room are well equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, large fridge with small freezer, standard gas cooker (extractor fan very loud and greasy including the switches), microwave, toaster, kettle, quality saucepans and lots of ceramic ovenware, crockery, cutlery etc. in the various cupboards. Unfortunately all the metal ovenware and the 3 frying pans were unusable as they were rusty etc., and some were also dirty, but the other kitchenware made up for that. The kitchen cupboard contents were in a bit of a mess, things were randomly placed, but made no difference, a quick sort remedied that. Table and chairs in kitchen were fine. Lounge spacious and well furnished, there's loads of stuff like games, puzzles, leaflets etc crammed in the cupboards and drawers as well as an amazing assortment of books on the shelves. There is also an open fire, but the heating is so good we didn't need to use that. TV in lounge has netflix, freeview etc., there's also a dvd player, video player (under table), cd player, loads of dvds etc. Good garden furniture, but the garden could do with improvement including the fence going up the steps. If the river frontage is belonging to the property as with the other houses, it would be nice to have that cleared just a bit to feed the ducks easier or sit near when its warmer. There is access to the street at the back from the garden (through a bit of a mess from other occupants), but access via the riverside is great. Parking good and safe right by the house, road is a private one so no cars except for residents. Walkway is busy as its a public footpath, so lots of dog walkers and joggers etc. Location is good for everything in Rothbury 1 min away, and the river walk both ways easy and mostly flat. Easy walk to Cragside, along the river to Thrum Farm buildings, then up the road a bit (dangerous for children), up over low part of wall up through trees. A very nice place to stay for adults, its in need of tlc/decoration/repairs but its part of an old building and is to be expected. A few minor niggles - The back door (which is on the same side as the front porch) was locked, there may have been a key but we didn't find it) The front door does not lock, but the porch does, but dont think thats really secure enough. Some windows are locked downstairs, but there's no key immediately visible in case you have to get out that way in an emergency, as breaking the window would be no use as its small panes in wood. There are smoke detectors and a carbon monoxide detector near the gas boiler (utility room toilet). A good place to stay - give it a try.

Quaint and rustic cottage in a superb location within Rothbury. Good easy access to river, shops, golf course and good choice of eating and drinking out. We stayed over new year and had 2 groups of friends staying. Very comfortable, maybe need new mattress in main bedroom, but overall great value for money. Loved having the open fire, but maybe a bit smokey at times. Would love to come back in the summer.

The only thing I can criticise is that the settee is a bit soggy: quite hard to get out of once you've sat down, especially for a pensioner. Homely and welcoming - felt "chez nous" immediately. Rustic, rather than modern, so if you like stainless steel surfaces and rectilinear design, this place isn't for you. However, it was perfect for us.

Fantastic holiday cottage... spacious and comfortable with a lovely quirky feel. Great location for riverside walks and Rothbury centre (within a very short walking distance) is well equipped with shops, bakeries, and take aways etc. Everything we wanted for a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings. Plenty of interesting places to visit by car too. Owner and locals friendly and helpful. We will definitely be booking this cottage again as we had such a great time here.

Comfortable and a winning location. My mum had restricted mobility but she was able to walk to all the shopping opportunities in Rothbury!

Very cosy comfortable quirky cottage in a fabulous beautiful location. Quiet and peaceful with lots of lovely walks for the dogs. Village is lovely with great places to eat at very reasonable prices with the Coop open until 10pm every night. Easy drive to other locations with plenty of places to visit. Would certainly stay there again if we went back to Northumberland.
