The interior of cottage is challenging. The stairs are very steep.. Like a carpeted ladder. My husband and myself are tall.. 5'8" and 6'2".lots of beams and sloping ceilings for head bashing. Bathing and showering impossible.. Beam across Bath.. Steps up and down throughout, all with differing heights. This is to be expected in a building of this age and it being modified to suit today's interior expectations. Electricity is extra. So if your there in colder months be prepared to pay for the heating.. The interior is chilly. That said.. A pleasant head cracking, not standing upright stay for a week. The countryside made up for it.!!!! Give it a go!!!!

Wonderful location, lovely cottage, Only problem bathroom a real challenge!! Shower almost impossible to use with sloppy ceiling/beam Being a bigger lady bath could have been normal shaped rather than curved!! Needs thinking about and changing? Garden lovely but needs a few little fence's to make dog friendly ? Apart from these moans which I dismissed when booking as I liked the overall look had a brill week ?

As soon as I walked in the cottage felt homely and just me and what I needed after 30 years without a holiday. A get away from life, with all you really need for a quiet, peaceful, but friendly hamlet holiday maybe for the older person, maybe not. My dogs loved the garden and local regular birds, as did I, and doing the local walks from the front door. Very clean and did not feel like anyone had been in there just before, with a nice touch of the lovely white towels and sheets, although I did take my own. Have booked again already.

The cottage was very clean and well equipped. However the furniture was not comfortable to sit on for an evening. The bed was comfortable but the bath was very difficult to use without banging your head on a beam. Great location and garden. Unusual to have to pay extra for electricity and it would have been nice to have one bag of firewood included as well as one bar of soap.

We had a good holiday and would have liked to give Quince Cottage a higher rating but there were some issues such as no WiFi as the password didn't work ( I did query this and the owner couldn't help and the other 2 numbers to call I left messages but no one got back to me. The info on the surrounding area was non existent ie for good walks ,vets doctors etc This aside we liked the area and found most things ourselves.

The description was accurate-it was small!! The main downside was the bathroom as it was difficult if not impossible to get in to the bath with the very low ceiling. Otherwise excellent and we would definitely stay again for a short time. Convenient, clean and cosy. The star rating was accurate.

Quince cottage was perfect for our long weekend with my partner and Milo our Golden Retriever. We were only going to stay for two nights but stayed for three. The quarry man cottage was built in 1680 approximately, so has lots of charm with a huge garden. Acton is unspoilt, quiet hamlet with a view of the sea at Swanage, if you walk 100m. There are walks from the cottage to the Square and Compass Pub along the Dancing Ledge Coastal ledge. On Friday nights they have a band which was fun, persuade them to play before their official 9pm start, this pub has a stable door bar and a fossil museum too! It was a good location to Swanage (where you can pick up food supplies), Studland, Corfe Castle, Sandbanks, Poole Quay and Lulworth Cove. We recommend The Scott Inn in Kingston for the view of Corfe Castle and their Jamaican BBQ and Mutton Curry. Also in Studland, the Pig on the beach and Brakes Inn with Old Harrys rocks, is worth a visit too. The weather was amazing for October, so we only put the electric heaters on at night and we were very cosy. The cottage was very clean with fresh white bedding and new towels, the bed was comfortable too....You just have to watch your head, because of the low beams upstairs, so don't rush around inside. Also baths are on the agenda or a kneel down shower. We had breakfast every morning in the garden, which has great access from the kitchen, where the grass was newly cut and the outside furniture was clean. We all loved it, a perfect get away cottage where you can touch the stars at night (so quiet, no light or noise pollution) . Thank you to the owner for giving use the opportunity to stay.
