The Coolins has been completely renovated and finished to a very good standard providing a comfortable stay for up to six people. It is attached to The Wee Coolins (ref UK12411), a spacious apartment that sleeps up to two adults. There is an interconnecting door between the properties which can be unlocked in advance to combine both and cater for families and groups numbering up to eight.
Within The Coolins, upon entering through the main door, you have the original staircase ascending to the first floor, the living/dining room to the right, and the interconnecting door to The Wee Collins to the left. The living area is spacious with the original hearth as a backdrop for a modern wood burner. Beyond this room the kitchen and all utilities are at the rear of the house, and there is a door out to the small courtyard garden, which is private and contains a hot tub for up to six people. At the top of the staircase, the first floor has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. From the spacious, light landing, there is a master double bedroom with en-suite, as well as two other twin bedrooms, of which one is a zip and link. The two twin rooms share a large bathroom via two doors.
The property is situated on the very quiet Railway Terrace, which runs parallel to the railway and is very near to Strathcarron station. This railway line, which runs from Inverness across the country to the Kyle of Lochalsh, is continually ranked as one of the most scenic rail journeys in the world. It is single track the whole way, with single or double carriage trains, which pass by the property three times per day. The station is a real asset because those wanting to walk or cycle in the area can use a train to get some distance away from The Coolins, to then have an enjoyable walk or ride one-way back to the property.
There are so many walking and cycling routes in the area to choose from. Without using the railway, the local roads easily lead to Lochcarron, Applecross and Torridon one way, and the Isle of Skye in the opposite direction. The Coolins is well placed to explore the best that Scotland has to offer. After a long day of exploring, there is a pub and restaurant that is popular with locals and tourists alike. It is literally a stone’s throw away from The Coolins. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 200 yards.
The Coolins can be booked together with The Wee Coolins (ref UK12411) to accommodate up to 8 guests.
