This charming, spacious 18th-century detached cottage, with a large private garden, is located on a quiet country lane and has fantastic views over open countryside. Whilst being tucked away off the beaten track, the cottage offers a quiet, peaceful break but is only 3 miles from Castle Douglas, Scotland’s food town, with its many independent shops, art galleries and craft shops. There are also cafés, restaurants and pubs to choose from.
For the outdoor enthusiast, Loch Ken is only 1½ miles away and offers water sports, fishing and an outdoor centre. Wildlife and birds are abundant, with red kites being a regular sighting over the cottage. This unspoilt area of South West Scotland offers magnificent scenery, fine sandy beaches and rocky coves to explore. There are also many traditional fishing villages and harbour ports. Kirkcudbright, the artists’ town, has art galleries, antique shops, museums and shops. This is an excellent area for walkers and cyclists, with Dalbeattie 7 Stanes nearby and the Galloway Forest Park and Dark Sky Park easily reached. Beach 11 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.
