Fantastic accommodation. Clearly there has been a lot of thought into the provisions in the house to cater for the whole family. Well maintained and beautiful property. Very private and quiet property with very good social spaces. Easy to book and very good instructions from the cottage owners. Make sure you read the directions on the confirmation email to find the property. Lower score for local amenities as there really are none but that was known. There is a local pub/hotel close by however the 1/2 mile walk is through a woodland and potentially not suitable for all. Overall great. Thoroughly enjoyed our. Great access to Ambleside, Kendal and Bowness-on-Windermere. Would highly recommend and definitely go back!

Lovely open plan living for two families to share. Great walks straight out of front door for the dogs and close to the attractions of the lakes.

Absolutely loved staying there. We look for PH within a mile hit the spot but my husband had a stroke and can’t walk cross country/ hills for the half mile comment. We live in the country so location ok but not for others. Cutlery and pans dirty had to scrub them. Bed very comfortable. Only used master bedroom with en-suite other bedrooms smelt very musty. Cleaning not v good at all had to scrub fridge cupboards, etc to make it liveable. In the garden heard bee’s really buzzing and found there was a nest above the kitchen window on the outside and the bees were coming into the property through the roof. My puppy was stung good job not a child. Someone should be inspecting the property on a regular basis. Although this sounds bad it was a lovely place to stay

We had a lovely week at Riven Oak. The heating is excellent as is the supply of hot water. I loved the open plan living space. The only downside really was that the directions for finding it were not good. We spent ages looking for the house. If the company put the owners instructions and photo on the web site it would make finding it much easier. Unfortunately I didn’t get the email from the owner until the evening of the day we arrived.

Absolutely loved our stay!! Enjoyed every minute, the living space was just perfect for our needs. Our only issue was the lack of essentials, for example; salt and pepper/oil/pint glasses. These are things that are generally provided in other cottages so we were not prepared. Also, it was difficult to use just 1 tea towel for the full weekend. It soon got very wet so another 1 or 2 would have been useful This did not hinder our holiday at all and we truly loved your house. These are just little points that we picked up on to make the stay slightly better for future holiday makers.

The living area upstairs is bright and airy, the bedrooms downstairs are dark, which can't be helped but they have a constant musty and damp smell. The bathrooms are adequate but tired and for the number of bedrooms, ideally another toilet/en-suite would be beneficial. We have rented cottages in other parts of the country and every time we have been welcomed with a very small hamper, which has been most appreciated especially with traffic delays, other places have been far more equipped with the basic essentials, this place you have to be prepared to take/buy absolutely everything! Such a pity as the area is so beautiful and friendly, but it is the first and last time we will be occupying Riven Oak.

Fab wee house, there was a slight smell of damp in the bedrooms but once we opened the windows for a few hours it went away think it just needs aired more often. Loved the open plan upstairs ideal for family get always, however missed a second ensuite might be worth changing the room with the cot into another ensuite for when families are sharing.
