I have stayed in worse places....but I didn't pay so much for the privilege. My disappointment started at the front door where the dark brown porch was dirty and covered with cobwebs. On opening the front door we found two rugs, both of which were in an unattractive dirty state. The front door opened directly into the lounge which was small and very dark..certainly not a place to spend any time. The room contained two easy chairs and a settee, none of them matching. Along with most of the furniture in the house they looked as though the had come from a second-hand auction. The kitchen had a new oven which was good but the freezer compartment of the fridge was missing it's door and was, therefore, not any use for keeping frozen foods. Because of the missing door it had become overwhelmed by frost. There was an old table covered with a plastic table cloth and two folding chairs of the type commonly found in works canteens. There were various items of crockery and cutlery and glassware, which were a mixture of varying sets. It is obvious that the owners use the house as there is no space left in the cupboards for visitors to keep their food. In the kitchen are two walk-in cupboards whose floors cannot have been swept and cleaned for a year. There was a washing machine, the powder compartment of which we had to thoroughly scrub before it could be used. There was promised a wonderful view from the back of the house but the decked are is badly overgrown by very high plants on either side and the view is restricted to an unkempt bungalow on the opposite bank. The beds and bedding were clean and there were bath towels (but no hand towels). The cupboards upstairs were again full of the owners' items with little space for visitors property. There was a good shower in the bathroom and it was adequately clean but all of the plumbing was terribly noisy as was the bathroom fan. I was concerned that the occupants of adjoining properties might be disturbed. Worst of all, and perhaps most annoying, was the toilet. The flush needs urgent replacement as it only worked about one time in ten. It was easier to fill a bucket and wash waste away in that way. A totally disappointing property and one I would advise any prospective visitors to avoid.
