Loftus benefits from two local pubs and a shop, and is an excellent base for visiting a number of places nearby.
Visit Whitby, 13 miles away with its historic abbey, beautiful sandy beach and award winning fish and chip shop. Just 6½ miles away is Runswick Bay, a truly beautiful little place to spend the day, with a fantastic cove and lovely little village; the quintessential seaside day out.
Just a 2 minute drive away takes you to the North York Moors, a vast expanse of wonderful, natural landscape with stunning views that are hard to find anywhere else. Take the steam train, running from Whitby across to Pickering, admiring the sights and sounds of the countryside as you travel through.
Just half an hour’s drive away is the picturesque village of Goathland, where popular TV programme ‘Heartbeat’ is set (under the name ‘Aidensfield’). A rustic village with an authentic, traditionally Yorkshire feel. Beach 5 miles. Shop and restaurant 100 yards, pub 10 yards.
