Lying peacefully on the banks of the glistening River Teifi within extensive grounds and on a 91-acre working farm, these traditional, Welsh barn conversions (refs JUK, JUL, OAM and OFA) have been converted to a very good standard and offer a perfect base for a family or couples looking to explore the dramatic coastline and rugged mountains of west Wales. Conveniently located just 2 miles away from the charming, market town of Cardigan, Rosehill Farm is situated well off the beaten track and is surrounded by rolling terrain where horses, goats and lambs call home. On the approach to the farm, guests will be greeted with spectacular views of the River Teifi, which is famously renowned for its freshwater salmon and trout fishing, and superb water based activities including kayaking and sailing. Each cottage has been sympathetically restored to uncover much of its original charm and character, including exposed beams and stone walls. Outside, guests can relax on their own private patio area, perfect for unwinding after a busy day’s adventure whilst watching the red kites and peregrine falcons soar over the magnificent scenery.
Close to the iconic Pembrokeshire National Park, guests can ramble the majestic Preseli Hills and discover picturesque walks and ancient monuments, including the Bronze Age burial chamber of Pentre Ifan Dolmen, which stands beautifully in rugged terrain. The nearby market towns of Cardigan, Newcastle Emlyn and Carmarthen are all rich with Welsh culture and offer a selection of traditional pubs, boutique and antique gift shops, along with some restaurants waiting to be explored. The magnificent coastline is just a short drive away and is home to golden beaches, horseshoe coves and the pretty coastal towns of Newport, New Quay and Aberaeron, which are set in tranquil fishing harbours where bottlenose dolphins and seals can be spotted on a clear day. For an interesting day out, take a scenic drive to Britain’s smallest city of St David’s and discover its 12th-century cathedral and medieval ruins of Bishops’s Palace, or take a sea safari around the off-shore island of Ramsey, cruising close to seabirds, seals and the occasional dolphin. Shops and pub 2 miles.

OK, let’s get the niggles out of the way first. There is no wi-fi on this site so make sure you have plenty of data on your mobile. The washing machine had a sticker on saying ‘Out of Order’. The cooker extractor hood didn’t work so, as it’s open plan, the whole place smelled of whatever you were cooking. The furnishings and decor look a little tired and, as it is the start of the season, will probably look a lot more tired by the end of the season. All that aside it is a lovely property in a stunning location. You can almost ‘feel’ the peace and quiet which make is an ideal place to relax, unwind, and use as a base to explore Ceredigion. And a tip for the owners: it’s great to be left in peace to enjoy your stay but it would have been nice if you had ‘popped round’ before we left to ask how we felt and to thank us for our custom - it felt really strange just leaving the key in the door and driving off. I would return to the site but would probably book one of the cottages nearer to the river. All in all a very pleasant break.

We had a great time here. We made use of the hot tub, and enjoyed making friends with the very sociable goats. The location is very serene, and there are lots of gems to visit in the local area. Poppit Sands beach is close by and lovely, and the nags head pub/restaurant is excellent.

Location was great we had some lovely days out to mwnt beach, New Quay and Tenby. Beautiful places even in the cold weather. Hot tub was lovely sat out most nights. Shops very local and easily accessible. The host was there to great us when we arrived and was really friendly. She was also on hand whenever we needed her. We understood it was self catering but could have done with a couple of bits for when you first arrive ( a dishwasher tablet/ a little washing up liquid, toilet roll, hand soap). Cottage was cosy and comfortable. Although beds, towels and surface level areas were clean, cleaning in general could have done with a little more attention to detail. Overall a good break away would return (p.s Dylan and Lucy the pygmy goats are lovely and friendly wish I could have brought them home :) )
