I wish the last review had been published when I booked. The car park being across the road & up a track was only a slight inconvenience for us. If I'd known about it I wouldn't have been quite so put out when we arrived and we were told by a neighbour we couldn't park in the courtyard. Reflecting the other reviews, signposting is rubbish & a few minor broken things need to be fixed. There was no sign of a recycling bin so we had to take our recycling home with us. The welcome pack & information was a bit sparse; we added to the local information leaflets so hopefully the next visitors will benefit. If you like good views this cottage is not for you. After my moaning above, I can say the local area is incredibly beautiful with stunning walking and running, lots of nearby activities including cycling on the Monsal Trail, open air swimming at Hathersage as well as Bakewell Monday market, museum & town trail.

This was an ideal location for beautiful walks on your doorstop & the cottage was nice & clean. The cottage would benefit from general maintenance as it was looking tired in places and some of the furniture in the rooms were far too big for the space and spoiled use of the room. Not all lamps had working bulbs, several spotlights didn't work & a smoke alarm in one bedroom had no battery It would be helpful if the owners reviewed all the comments in the visitors book & acted on them, e.g, better signage near the cottage, shelving in the bathrooms to place your toiletries, light in kitchen under the cupboard flickering on & off. Also the website indicated it has onsite parking, which is why I choose it (one of the party had limited mobility) but we later discovered (when a note was put on car windscreen & found it noted in a folder) that there was only a tight space to park to drop off luggage & then you had to park in another area across the road. The website needs updating to reflect this.
