Lovely to be able to retreat to peace after a days sightseeing. Great for dog walks. Cafe downstairs looked very busy, always a good sign but didn’t visit. Frequent bus to town centre a short walk away. Some aircraft noise during the day as well as early am and evening but not unbearable.

We had a very lovely time in the sailor’s cottage. It was clean, very comfortable and I would certainly recommend it highly. There is a small bistro on your doorstep which serves the best soup and panini’s.A superb pub in the village,a museum and an art gallery.

Perfect for children, dog owners, and those who like long river walks or seaside fun.

Sailor's cottage overlooks the river Almond at its junction with the Forth so has a great views out over the water and boats. it is very comfortable and is not far from Edinburgh city centre, easily reached on the No 41 bus or stay local and enjoy walks on the promenade or up the river. It is in a really dog and child friendly area and the locals were friendly and welcoming.

Cottages is excellent. Views are outstanding. The only thing to be aware of is that local amenities are low. No real shops within walking distance. This may not matter to some but just be aware. Travel into Edinburgh is easy by Bus (41) but for people like me who cannot walk very far, we still had a five minutes drive to the bus stop. Being close to Scotland's Capital there are lots of interesting places to visit in the area.

Positives: Very welcoming and accommodating host Clean, spacious property Excellent mattresses Great beach/promenade just outside the door Easy access to Edinburgh, Fife, motorways etc Great views Great local dog walks Very quiet location (except the planes - see below) Negatives: Beds are only standard doubles - fine if you are used to them, less so if not. It's right underneath a major flight path. When the wind is from the west (as it usually is) this isn't a major issue. However, when the wind is from the east/north then planes landing at Edinburgh are very noisy overhead, from 6am to 11pm or so. As a "listed" type property, with single pane windows, you don't get much noise insulation from this.

Beautiful cottage in a stunning location.

We took my mother in law here for a 3 day stay and had a wonderful holiday. Sailor's Cottage is beautifully located in Cramond Village, above the bistro/gallery. Our February trip was blessed with good weather which meant we could enjoy all the great walks from the cottage (across to the island, along the shore and up the River Almond. Cramond is well served by a regular bus into the heart of the city from a bus stop a bit up the hill from the cottage. The cottage is very well equipped with a great cooker, dishwasher and full range of utensils and crockery which suited us well as we were cooking at home 2 nights out of 3. Beds are very comfy and the cottage is really cosy. Super wifi connection, particularly important in winter. There are also books and games in the cottage. Visitors should be aware (we knew this in advance) that Cramond itself does ot have any shops, at the moment the local pub is closed and the shore café was not open in February.

Great accommodation with beautiful views. Clean, well equipped with easy bus route into Edinburgh. Can't speak highly enough of this cottage, our family had a lovely Christmas stay.

Lovely location close to Edinburgh. Super views from cottage. Nice Bistro underneath cottage and beach nearby. Good for dogs. A little more child/infant friendly needed perhaps, eg the beaded blind pulls replaced, a stair gate and we found the baby travel cot under the bed at end of stay. No problem though we had brought our own. The local pub was also closed. Overall, a lovely stay and would return.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay in the property and look forward to hopefully returning sometime again in the future. Great places to walk the dog and lovely little cafe's dotted about. Thank you very much for accommodating us.

Sailor's cottage is simple beautiful. The views from the kitchen and the lounge are stunning and the walks along the river Almond are breathtaking. The house ws much bigger than we expected, and with lots of lovely, interesting features, such as the lovely little walk way through to the front door. We were there in October and the autumn colours in the area were perfect; we decorated the house with pumpkins and candlelight and had a wonderful time. I would happily live in sailor's cottage. However, we did not bring our car as we came to Edinburgh by train, and there is no local shop in Cramond, so you have to come prepared. I had a Sainsbury's delivery which worked well. The number 41 bus runs an excellent service from the village into Edinburgh and you can walk along the river up to the Queensferry road and get a bus to Queensferry to the stunning Forth Bridge.
