Very pet friendly cottage in a great location. Walks from the front door and a great local pub a few minutes walk away. Cottage felt very spacious downstairs and living room was very comfortable with great views. Cottage itself could do with some updating, taps etc very loose and towels and hoover could do with replacing. Cottage would benefit from one king size bed and twin beds in the other room. Shower over the bath is fixed so it's very difficult for anyone over 5ft to use it. Lovely neighbours although one likes to mow his lawn at 7am on Sunday! 😂

Had a lovely time in a clean light and welcoming cottage. The garden was great for sitting out with lots of birds around. Shower height a little low. Bed very comfy. Good cycling on quiet roads.

we had a fantastic time at the cottage, which helped with the lovely weather. very dog friendly cottage. great place to stay and not far from the beach (Seascale), which is very dog friendly. we had a relaxing stay and will return. nice views from the garden. however the garden does need a bit of a tidy up, especially at the bottom of the garden, which would be a great place to sit and chill in the afternoons and evening time.

this cottage is pet friendly with a very secure garden and sturdy gate and fences which appear newly done, although when we visited the grass was so over grown it was difficult to clean up after small dogs, ours only used the yard area. some attention is needed on the yard door lock as the button is missing to hold the sneck back, too easy for the door to close behind you and lock yourself out....as i found out !! Cottage lacks an onsite owners touch, and needs some TLC. We appreciated Debs local knowledge on dog friendly places to visit and thank you we loved St Bees.

A lovely cottage and the garden is secure for your dogs to enjoy. It's well located for easy access to the coast and the fells. The utility room in the basement was very handy. I would not recommend to anyone old and infirm though as the steps both in the cottage and in the garden are too steep to be easily negotiated.

The cottage was absolutely lovely. It was perfect for the 3 dogs we had and also the bedrooms were very nice. There were a lot of very thoughtful touches, all the extras for the dogs and the kitchen is very well equip (except for the lack of a caffetiere) although there was a coffee maker. The garden is lovely and secure. The only thing really missing was the fact that we were expecting to be able to light a log fire but the bags by the fire were empty and we were unable to have the fire after a long wet walk. I would recommend this cottage if you are looking to have long walks on the beach or around the local lakes.

Cottage was nice and warm when we arrived and everywhere was clean. A note advising that the gas man hadn't arrived to service the cooker was left for us, but as we were only there for 3 nights wasn't a problem. The weather was pretty abysmal which meant we left for home after only 2 nights, not the owners fault, but I did scratch my head wondering why the floor has a light coloured carpet when there are dogs allowed - by no means a complaint just an observation, but we were worried about the dogs coming in and out making the carpet dirty. I couldn't get a phone signal and I guess if you are on holiday a phone signal might not be a priority for some, but wifi would have been useful here. I saw a hub but couldn't detect a signal. There is a garage nearby where you can buy some provisions, though we didn't go there. There is a dog friendly pub a couple of minutes around the corner, which we did. House was well stocked with equipment and had we needed it there was a washing machine in the basement. The garden was nice with a patio and grassed area with views across the fields. Had the weather been better we would have stayed, but I suppose in December wherever you go you take a risk.

Loved Sawmill Cottage and the location is beautiful. We just wanted a quiet break, with lots of lovely dog walks, with a friendly pub close by, and somewhere cosy to stay.... That's exactly what we got! Can't wait to stay there again.
