Science, at the Old School Apartments, is located in the centre of the rural village of Dalavich, close to pretty peaceful woodland with a lovely outlook towards Loch Awe and the mountains beyond. Thoughtfully renovated from the old village primary school, each apartment is named after a school subject!
Science is a two-bedroom ground-floor apartment with a bright open-plan fully equipped kitchen and comfortable living area with Satellite TV, and DVD player ideal for relaxing with a film for a quiet evening or entertaining the children for a peaceful afternoon. The living room is south facing, with windows that catch the Scottish sun throughout the day. There are two cosy bedrooms, with a south facing master bedroom and a twin room fitted with an L-shaped bunk, suitable for both adults and children. The large private garden offers plenty of room for the young and energetic children to run off excess energy.
You are just a stone’s throw from stunning Loch Awe and there are several local walks. Loch Awe is Scotland’s longest freshwater loch and has superb fishing, enchanted islands and deserted castles to explore. In addition to the peace and quiet of the log cabin locations, the surrounding area provides an amazing natural playground. There are forests, burns, rivers, castles, mountains and lochs to explore and enjoy with many walking and cycling routes. A world-renowned destination for anglers, Loch Awe provides one of the best opportunities for wildlife. When you go out exploring, don’t forget your camera and binoculars! Keep a watch out for Ospreys, Red Squirrels, Wild Cats, Pine Martens, and much, much more. You can also see Golden Eagle and Sea Eagle, Red and Roe Deer and an unparalleled amount of bird life.
Dalavich is well-served for visitors with a community centre offering bar facilities, as well as a small, licensed grocery store, café, takeaway and post office, bike and canoe hire. Within 30 minutes’ drive along the network of single-track roads through stunning scenery, you can reach the villages of Kilchrenan, Ford, Kilmelford and Taynuilt, all with village shops, pubs, and cafés. The larger village of Taynuilt has a grocery store, post office, craft shop, butcher, hairdresser, golf course and railway station. A 50-minute drive into Oban gives you access supermarkets, ferry terminal, shops, cafés, restaurants and has a cinema, leisure centre and whisky distillery.
