Selworthy Cottage is in the West Barn and has been refurbished and extended in 2021 to create a comfortable and quirky cottage on multiple levels, sleeping 11 in two double, three twin and one single bedroom. With oak flooring throughout, downstairs contains a fully fitted open-plan kitchen/living area featuring a 55" Sony TV with full sound system, and lovely views across the valley from the window seats in the living area. The dining room (seating up to 14) and utility area lead off from the kitchen. From here, stairs lead up to a double bedroom, single bedroom and a shower room. The main twin staircase from the living area leads to a double and twin bedroom (both with en-suite shower rooms). At the end of the living area, stairs lead down to a bathroom and a separate toilet. Stairs lead up to a twin bedroom and down to a further twin bedroom. The cottage combines space from two original barns resulting in the unusual layout! 2 doorways lead out to the enclosed sunny patio with built-in BBQ where you can have a meal or drink looking out across the fields and The Avill Valley. Easy access from our main car park through a private 5-barred gate.
Duddings Country Cottages has a wealth of on-site facilities to keep you entertained all year round and no matter the weather! Enjoy the on-site indoor heated pool and spa bath, which has changing and shower facilities. The pool and spa bath are heated via a wood chip biomass boiler. The games room with pool table, table tennis table and table football, also has a 3-seater sofa and two armchairs, and is a great place to relax, or watch the kids playing! On-site are the Shetland ponies, Zag and Zebedee who can usually be found grazing in the pony field and Dixie, Ziggy and Zippy in another field.
Kids will love Gate Lodge Play Centre, a 2-storey playhouse with swings, a slide, a fireman’s pole and assault course to clamber over. Great fun for smaller children, with a table and bench nearby so that the adults can stay close by and watch. Also on-site is a hard tennis court, operating on a ‘turn up and play’ system, with racquets and balls are available to borrow. There is also a large trampoline with protective barrier netting, and a football net situated in the ‘play paddock’ where guests can play cricket or badminton, fly kites etc. Please keep dogs on a lead in this area. As well as all this, there are also 9 acres of land to explore, with picnic areas and a river where you may spot a brown trout (if the heron hasn’t got them all!).
