    Set in a slightly elevated position above the Auld Grey Town of Kendal, Serpentine Rest is on the ground floor and enjoys roof top views over this medieval market town and across to the Kentmere fells beyond. A gentle stroll will bring you to ancient cobbled streets lined with an eclectic mix of interesting high street and specialist shops and tea rooms, riverside walks and Kendal Castle, the former home of Katherine Parr, the 6th wife of Henry VIII. Just 15 minutes by car to Windermere and Bowness, Serpentine Rest is also a great base for exploring not only the Lakes but the Dales too as Kirkby Lonsdale is easily accessible, just six miles from Kendal.
    Deceptively spacious, Serpentine Rest is a home from home, with comfortable furnishings, strategically placed to take in the pleasant outlook from the living areas. The small but well cared for patio is just the spot for taking in some fresh air when our weather will allow but also offers some great views of the Kentmere Valley, the owner having provided a wide range of walking books for you to ensure you get the very best out of your holiday here at Serpentine Rest.

    Very nice property and facilities, WiFi fall out in second bedroom but otherwise available throughout. Very comfortable but for one thing. There is a flat above which does not appear to be carpeted and is occupied by two/three young men one of which is an insomniac and regularly paces the floor through the night meaning we did not get one night of unbroken and undisturbed sleep during our six night stay!

    Kendal is a great base to explore the Lakes and and the Serpentine rest flat is in a fab location within Kendal, with a short walk into town centre and equally short walk to a lovely walk through a fairy glen. Unfortunately, we won't be returning, only because the flat was too damp for our son with asthma. He started to struggle after the second night, so we were glad that we had only booked for 3 nights. The flat is lovely otherwise and very well equipped. If it wouldn't be for the dampness, we'd come again.
