We had a lovely relaxing holiday at Silk Cottage in a beautiful area which was made much better by how lovely, clean and homely the cottage was. We will hopefully return in the future.

Nice little cottage for our time in the Yorkshire dales. A few tiny remarks: could do with a washing machine (I appreciate space is limited in the kitchen), some kitchen scissors and better instructions regarding lighting the fire in the kitchen - we only finally managed it on Wednesday!

A lovely cottage in a quiet village. The equipment in the kitchen is the best we have ever had, there was everything you needed. The owners obviously put thought into what is needed as there were walks, information pages and even a parking permit for if you have a day in Settle. It was comfortable and clean. The parking isn't great but the locals have the same issues and there is nothing the owners could do about that but just to be aware you will need to carry your stuff and the walk can get slippy in the rain. It says it's 'more than' dog friendly, but that's not the owners stating that rather the site you book on and the cottage information once you're there says dogs cannot go upstairs or on the window seats so dogs can go to the cottage but only downstairs and they do provide treats and a blanket or two for them which was nice but we would not say it's 'more than dog friendly' as we have stayed in those types and dogs are allowed upstairs, which ours is at home, and we expected him to be able to sleep in his dog bed on the floor in the bedroom with us. They also state they have Netflix but it only worked the first night then not the rest of the week and the communication from the owners really just told us there was nothing they could do which was a shame as they have internet, which is great, and would have taken our own had it not stated they had it. They were kind enough to leave a loaf of bread, tea, coffee and milk so a nice little welcome. Overall we liked it and the cottage really is a credit to the owners.

The perfect cottage in the perfect location! We had the most amazing New Year at Silk Cottage! It was spotless, we had everything and more provided for us....just wow! (The loaf of fresh baked bread was icing on the cake!!) This cottage is a credit to its owners! We can’t wait to come back! The sundial pub that is literally a minutes walk away serves the most fantastic food too!! We ventured to Windermere, Kirkby Lonsdale & the Ingleton Falls trail which our 4 & 6 year old managed :) What a fantastic place silk cottage & the Yorkshire Dales are! We will hopefully be seeing you again soon!

We had a great time, felt totally comfortable from the moment we walked in. Heartfelt thanks to the owners for accommodating us and our boy, we enjoyed ourselves a lot and so did he. Cosy, cheery and the very tasteful Christmas decorations added to the festive atmosphere. Lovely place and highly recommended

We had a fantastic early Christmas escape to Silk Cottage, which was tastefully decorated for the season and offered the perfect cosy stay for us, our newborn baby and our dog. It was an immaculately presented property that was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The garden was perfect for the dog to explore safely and in sight at all times, while the beautiful living area was ideal for warming up by the wood burning stove and watching old movies on the decent TV. Great new kitchen with all the equipment you could need. On-street parking was occasionally tricky but never impossible. The immediate local area was nice if limited, and the Sundial pub was excellent. High Bentham was a very short drive away and had everything you could need in the way of shops, restaurants and takeaways. One of the best reasons to stay though is the proximity of so many great places to explore. Ingleton, Kirkby Lonsdale and Settle were great to discover and spend time in, with wonderful walks in each along with shops, markets, restaurants and cafes. In better weather and with longer days this would be a great base for the Yorkshire 3 peaks or just a straight hike up and down Ingleborough. We'll be trying to get back for another stay at Silk Cottage - a great place to disappear to for a few days!
