We have to say no based on the value for money aspect and the main fact , this property was advertised as detached. My husband will only go to detached properties and would not have booked this property had we have known the facts. The owner may own the whole property which is detached but they forget to mention that part of it is an annex attached to your let. The 2 sections are intertwined, in that the bedrooms of the annex go over the bedrooms of the house. Hence at 6 30am every morning, we were awoken by footsteps above us. The house blog creatively gives the impression of luxury. This is not the case, the settee is covered in a stained green stretchy covers, the windows need a good clean. We arrived to find the front lawn surrounded by weeds and bins. The front door was grubby. Our hearts sunk as we turned the corner. There was an incident when we arrived but to be fair the owner quickly sent the cleaners back and had a bottle of prosecco delivered to us. The kitchen was well equipped and spacious and tea and coffee was provided (but no welcome pack). However the led lights were hanging down from under the cupboards and the rubbers falling out of the bifold doors which made them a bit stiff. The decking area had been given a lick of grey paint but this does not correct the rickety wood underfoot and again had not been swept and had weeds. If this was a new let to the market and was as fantastic and luxurious as the blog made out, why was a lot of the paintwork chipped. Once you start seeing things like this it makes you look closer at everything and the place whilst on the service clean-ish it wasn't really clean, dust on the skirting and ornaments etc. Just started making us feel a bit uncomfortable. The beds were comfortable and the linen was clean and fresh. Plenty of storage space in the bedrooms and bathroom. But again nothing was new, they were old wardrobes, the curtains in the second bedroom were difficult to close the pole in the main bedroom leaning on one side and again the windows needed a clean. The views from the kitchen are splendid but the garden is not overly private due to the annex. The problem with this property is that our expectations had been 5 star from the write-up about it. What we found was 2-3 star. I had taken my 95 year old mother here for a bit of convalescence after a few illnesses and she was not impressed, I felt like I had let her down. We felt let-down and overcharged and a feeling of being oversold. I would hope not on purpose and I don't suggest that for a moment, but people need to be realistic or at least live up to their descriptions.

This is a lovely bungalow on a quiet road off Shalmsford Street in the village of CHARTHAM. It is a peaceful place in the countryside, yet close enough to get to Canterbury and various sights around the area like Chilham Castle. The house is spacious and well equipped with a modern kitchen and a small quiet garden to sit outside in.There is a lovely walk from the house into many fields and country lanes and a ten minute walk to the train station into Canterbury then on to London. We enjoyed our six night stay very much and recommend this very comfortably appointed place for your holiday in the countryside near Canterbury.
