Idyllically placed on the edge of the small village of Ashover, five miles from the popular tourist town of Matlock. This cosy cottage is situated on the owner’s working farm and boasts a proper Derbyshire Cottage feel with the owners paying special detail to the finishing touches. Once you enter the cottage take off your boots and enjoy the country-style kitchen which has plenty of character and has been beautifully equipped to meet all your culinary needs, with the dining area making it a very sociable space. A cosy living room can be found off the kitchen and upstairs each bedroom is tastefully appointed, one with an a double bed, and the other with a kingsize zip and link bed, allowing flexibility for sleeping arrangements. Step outside to find a country style garden with seating to enjoy after a hard day exploring this fantastic area.
Ashover is one of the country’s largest parishes and has an extensive footpath network, with all routes coming back to the village. The surrounding area is wonderful for walking and cycling, or touring the pretty market towns and popular tourist attractions. Nearby Matlock, with its warm springs, offers interesting, independent shops, restaurants, tempting tea rooms and bespoke wine bars to visit. Hall Leys Park provides a lovely setting for recreational activities such as bowls, tennis and boating. Chatsworth House and gardens are about 20 minutes’ drive away and Hardwick Hall and Haddon Hall are also both well worth a trip. With Crich Tramway Museum and Matlock Bath close by, there’s a wealth of activities for all.
