Step inside this stunning former railway station, with its historical background, and just try to imagine how it was to have the sounds and smells of a steam train passing through the sandstone platforms, one of which still remains in the back garden, running the full length of the property. The current owner has sympathetically restored this detached property to a tasteful modern day standard, with light, airy spacious accommodation over two floors. The ground floor has a large living room with welcoming wood burner, perfect to sit and relax in front of whilst enjoying a movie on the large screen TV. Just off the living area is a bunk bedroom, which is handy for you to keep an eye on youngsters at bedtime whilst the grown ups enjoy their evening. The property has many original features, which can be seen in the dining room especially, which has an exposed sandstone wall. The well-fitted kitchen has granite work tops, a central island and a large American-style fridge to keep your drinks cool. Patio doors open out onto a paved patio area and the extensive enclosed garden, where you can keep careful watch on children or dogs as they play outside. A further twin bedrooom, family bathroom and separate toilet are also found on this level. Take the staircase to the first floor, and you will reach the master bedroom which has inset floor lights making a feature of the sandstone walls and vaulted ceiling. It also has a dressing area with and en-suite shower room - just another example of the space this property provides. Across the hallway is a further kingsize bedroom.
Outside, the well-kept pathways, grounds and sandstone water feature provide an ideal area to sit and relax in, but should you choose to venture a little further, the local village pub is just a few minutes’ walk, and offers home cooked food and excellent ales. The surrounding area is perfect for all, and families of any age can enjoy a day out at Muncaster Castle. A ride on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway is a must, and you can spend the day enjoying the various walks at the numerous stops it passes through. Nearby St Bees beach is a lengthy stretch of open sand, whilst Wasdale and Wastwater offers some of Lakeland’s finest views and walks. Beach 1¼ miles. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

6th-13th sept 2019, Una, A very comfortable house, clean, tidy, good facilities, and good secure garden for dogs with a beautiful view, good location for Lake District and to the beach(best of both worlds), Tom very helpful, and nothing a bother, would recommend this property.

We have stayed in many holiday cottages and this was definitely one of the most luxurious. The house is beautifully decorated and furnished, a real pleasure to stay in. The kitchen is well equipped (something we have often found lacking in other places we have stayed). The garden is a great size for dogs and children. Location lovely, and although we had a very wet and windy week there were ample indoor activities available in the area. Would strongly recommend this cottage.

Station House is a modern and exceptionally clean and well kept cottage. We had a truly amazing 12 day holiday here and enjoyed every minute of it whatever the weather. Tom, the owner, went out of his way to accommodate and ensure all are requirements were met and more! The house is in a very quiet edge of the village with spacious and private gardens and clear views over the open country and down to the sea. There is loads to do in this area especially outdoor activities such as walking and beaching - we are looking forward to our next visit!

Myself, husband and two adult sons stayed at Station House for 4 nights and we all enjoyed staying there. It is in an ideal location to explore most of the Lake District. It was lovely to be able to go back at night and sit in a living room rather than a hotel room and there was plenty of space for us all. Tom was very friendly and suggested places to eat and visit. I would certainly recommend staying here.

Excellent accommodation in a great location, Tom could not do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay and knew what good pubs and places to visit. If we stay in this area again we would have no hesitation in booking this property for a 2nd time.

A stunning house that is finished to the highest standard. It’s well located for the beach as well as touring the lakes. The host was outstanding and could not do enough to please. This is by far the best of the cottages we have stayed in over the years and we are looking forward to returning to continue our tour of Cumbria.
